    • A portable storage silo comprising a tank has a peripheral wall, a top wall and a bottom wall. There is provided a filling opening at or adjacent a top of the tank and a discharge opening at or adjacent a bottom of the tank. A support assembly for holding the tank with the bottom wall raised from the ground such that the discharge opening is raised for discharge into a receptacle at the ground. The support assembly includes a base for resting on the ground. The base including a plurality of arms connected to the base and located at spaced positions around the base. The discharge opening has an electrically actuated gate arrangement. The filling opening has an electrically actuated lid. The actuators at the discharge opening and the filling opening are solar powered.

    • A method and apparatus for supplying bulk material to an end user includes the step of providing a bulk material source that is at a location distant from the end user and a specially configured vessel and trailer apparatus for transporting the bulk material to the end user. The vessel is filled with bulk material at the bulk material source and then transported with a specially configured trailer. Alternatively, at source or destination, the vessel can remain as a temporary storage device, free-standing from the trailer. Other similar container configurations are provided as alternate containers for use with the method of the present invention. During transport between the bulk material source and the end user, the vessel is filled or partially filled with a selected bulk material. During transport, the vessel is in a generally horizontal position, supported by the trailer and a specially configured elevator. The vessel is unloaded from the trailer by moving the vessel longitudinally along the trailer and by transferring the vessel from a generally horizontal position upon the trailer to an elevated upright position. The vessel is then lowered from the elevated position to a lowered, final installed position that is behind the trailer. The vessel is preferably loaded with between about 1 and 50,000 pounds of bulk material. The vessel preferably has a volume of between about 500 and 2,000 cubic feet. The same trailer can be used to load an empty vessel. Specially configured outriggers help align the elevator with the vessel during loading of a vessel to the trailer. Different connecting frames can be used as an interface between the elevator and the vessel for differently configured vessels. In an alternate embodiment a trailer—rail—trailer system is disclosed wherein a trailer to transport a vessel to a first terminal, a special rail frame is attached to the vessel enabling a rail car to transport the vessel from a first to a second terminal and a trailer can transport the vessel from the second terminal to a worksite.

    • A hood for mounting over the open top of a container for allowing the container to stand inverted on legs of the hood. The container's contents can then be discharged through the open top of the container and the hood chute. The hood includes a latching device for gripping the container and further includes movable sockets for engagement by a lifting device required to place the hood on, and remove the hood from, the container. Linkages connect the sockets with the latching device and movement of the sockets, as the hood is lifted by a hood lifting device, moves the latching device from a latching condition, which is so biassed by, for example, compression springs, to a release condition.

    • An apparatus for use in the transportation and production of cementitious mixes including a silo and a truck for transporting the silo. The silo is sub-divided internally into two compartments, one for cement and one for sand. At the lower end of the said compartment there is a vibratory grid and other structure for causing the sand to flow evenly from the open lower end of the silo into a mixer without bridging. A feed screw feeds cement from the cement compartment to the mixer. The truck has a lifting mechanism for lifting the vertical silo and tilting the silo through ninety degrees to a horizontal position for transportation purposes.

    • A portable self-erecting surge storage silo comprises a bin, a conveyor elevator and a base frame that supports the bin and elevator in operation and for transport. The bin has a pair of long rear legs and a pair of shorter front stub legs. At each side of the base frame is an L-shaped unit having a longer leg and a shorter leg, swingable about a horizontal first axis transverse to the base frame and through the junction of the legs of the L-unit. The shorter legs of the L-units are rigidly connected to the bin stub legs, substantially in alignment with them, for swinging of the bin between a horizontal transport position and an inclined intermediate position at which the rear bin legs are detachably connectable to the base frame for swinging of the bin about a second axis, parallel to the first. The shorter legs of the L-units are disconnected from the stub legs at the intermediate position, and the bin is swung up about the second axis to its upright erected position at which the longer legs of the L-units are connected to the stub legs to cooperate with the rear legs in supporting the bin. The bin is raised by means of a connection with the elevator, which is swung up by hydraulic jacks.
