    • The subject invention provides an inductor mounting assembly that is easy to assemble into any mounting scheme and which assures that an adequate clamping force to overcome vibration forces is provided. In one aspect of the present invention, an inductor mounting assembly is provided. The inductor mounting assembly includes an inductor assembly, a spacer assembly adapted to receive the inductor assembly, a wedge member for engaging one side of the inductor assembly and for distributing a clamping force substantially evenly about the inductor assembly, and a bushing disposed through each of the inductor assembly, the spacer assembly, and the wedge member, such that when a clamping force is applied to the wedge member, the inductor assembly is clamped to the spacer assembly.

    • A common mode choke has a generally rectangular ferrite body for surface mounting on a printed circuit board. First and second spaced apart slotted openings extend vertically between the top face and the bottom face of the ferrite body. At least one pair of electrical conductors extend along parallel paths from the bottom face through the first slotted opening to the top face, along a portion of the top face, and back down through the second slotted opening to the bottom face. One pair of opposing side faces preferably has lower portions extending outwardly past a plane of the bottom face to thereby serve as a support to mount the bottom face of the ferrite body in spaced relation from the circuit board. The electrical conductors may then extend outwardly from the bottom face of the ferrite body for electrical connection through corresponding openings of a circuit board or extend laterally outwardly for electrical connection to corresponding portions of the circuit board in a gull wing configuration. A continuous upstanding ridge may be formed around the periphery of the top face of the ferrite body and defines a recess at the top face of the ferrite body. A sealant may be positioned within the recess defined by the upstanding ridge for forming a continuous top face to facilitate automated handling of the common mode choke.

    • Core support blockings (10, 12) used to support a toroidal transformer (2) within a transformer housing (4) includes a pie-shaped body (28) having a second end (32) secured to the transformer core (14) using an adhesive (41). The body has adhesive flow regions, typically countersunk holes (42) passing through mounting flanges (38, 40) extending laterally adjacent the second end of the body. Electrical windings (26) can be wound on first end of the mounting flanges so to help mechanically secure the body to the core. A mounting stud (46), or other mounting element, is used to secure the transformer to a support bracket (8). Together the support bracket and core support blockings are used to support the transformer within the transformer housing.
