    • A plow for a conveyor belt for efficiently removing debris from the return portion of the conveyor belt. The plow for a conveyor belt generally includes a frame having a pair of front plow blades, wherein the pair of front plow blades define a V-shape oriented toward an upstream direction of travel with respect to the conveyor belt. The frame also generally includes a pair of pivotal wings each including a rear plow blades. A support bracket extends forwardly from the frame to secure the frame to a conveyor structure of the conveyor belt. At least one roller is rotatably connected to the frame and extends beyond a lower end of the plow blades to contact the conveyor belt and to maintain a separation between the plow blades and the conveyor belt as the roller(s) travels along the conveyor belt.

    • Non-contact, liquid-ejecting bearings (3) are provided for conveying flexible glass sheets (13), such as LCD substrates, at high conveyance speeds, e.g., speeds of 15 meters/minute and above. The operating parameters and physical properties of the bearings satisfy at least one of the following conditions: (a) the average flow rate from the bearing's orifices (22) is in the range of 100-800 milliliters/minute/orifice; (b) the orifices' average horizontal pitch (P) is in the range of 20-55 millimeters; and/or (c) the orifices' average size (e.g., D0) is in the range of 1.0-4.5 millimeters. The bearings (3) can reduce the time-averaged, peak-to-peak variation in the spacing between a LCD substrate (13) traveling at 15 meters/minute and the face (20) of the bearing (3) to less than 100 microns, thus reducing the chances that the bearing (3) will lose control of the substrate (13) or that the substrate (13) will hit the bearing (3).

    • A belt scraper tensioning assembly attaches to a belt conveyor machine to bias a scraper blade toward a conveyor belt. The tensioning assembly is fully assembled prior to mounting to the belt conveyor. The tensioning assembly comprises a mounting plate with a central opening and a cylindrical bearing housing connected to the mounting plate coaxial with the central opening. A cylindrical bearing is positioned within the bearing housing. A tensioning arm extends radially from a cylindrical sleeve. A portion of the cylindrical sleeve is pivotally mounted within the cylindrical bearing. The cylindrical sleeve is positionable over and connectable to a shaft carrying a belt scraper such that the tensioning arm pivots as the shaft rotates. A stationery arm is connected to the mounting plate and extends along a horizontal axis of the mounting plate. The stationery arm includes an elongate slot. A tensioning rod extends through the elongate slot and has one end connected to the free end of the tensioning arm when the tensioning arm is angularly displaced less than 90 degrees from the stationery arm. A portion of the tensioning rod that extends below the stationery arm carries a spring between the stationery arm and a nut threaded on a lower end of the tensioning rod. The spring can be compressed to urge the tensioning arm toward the stationery arm and thereby rotate the belt scraper shaft to keep the belt scraper blade in close contact with the conveyor belt as the scraper blade wears.

The lubrication process for a conveyor belt of a conveyor for bottles or containers in general consists of feeding lubricant onto a cylindrical element and rotating the cylindrical element in contact with the conveyor belt, such that the lubricant passes onto the conveyor belt.

    • A two piece scraper blade is provided that includes a scraper member that is releasably connected to a base member. The scraper member can be of a different material than the base member to provide various advantages including with respect to its wear resistance. Further, in one form, a toolless interconnection is provided for ease in attaching the scraper member to the base member. In another form, the scraper member and base member are provided with engaging surfaces with one of the surfaces including teeth for gripping into the other surface when the scraper member is connected to the base member. In this form, the forces for inserting and removing the scraper member from the base member are greater than the form in which a toolless interconnection is provided, and thus a more robust connection between the scraper and base members is provided thereby.
