摘要： A mixing head for mixtures of reactive components, e.g. two-component synthetic-resin systems to be discharged into a mold, in which the orifices for the two components open into a mixing chamber and can be selectively blocked or unblocked by a plunger or piston which serves to drive the mixture out of the chamber. According to the invention a blocking body (baffle barrier) is provided on a connecting rod which extends through the plunger and, in a retracted position of the latter, is located in the path of the jets of the reactive components emanating from the orifices.

The process comprises the steps of applying a substantially clear coating to a mold, applying a first layer of a mixture of polyester resin and filler over the coating, forming readily visible striations in the first layer of resin and filler, applying a layer of glass fibers thereover, applying a second layer of polyester resin and filler over the layer of glass fibers and permitting the various layers to completely cure so as to form the final product.

摘要： A nozzle for dosing, feeding and if necessary mixing substances, comprising a rotatable vessel of cup-like form having a base, a central hub portion and an outer wall spaced radially outwardly from the hub portion. The outer wall defines a pouring opening in its upper portion and has a plurality of outlet openings disposed at its lower portion. The vessel is rotatable about a central vertically disposed axis through the hub portion. A plurality of equiangularly spaced partition walls extending between the hub portion and outer wall divides the nozzle into a plurality of chambers. An outlet opening is provided in each of the chambers; and a receiving mold at each outlet rotatable with nozzle receives the molding material by centrifugal force. A stationary supply tube means discharging into the pouring opening of the nozzle combined with rotation of the nozzle at a predetermined uniform rate ensures that substantially equal quantities of the molding material are dispensed to each of the molds located adjacent the outlet openings in the nozzle.

摘要： A multidensity polyurethane foam article suitable for use as a seat cushion includes a supportive layer of firm foam and a comfortable layer of softer foam. The multidensity article has a sag factor of about 3.0 to about 4.5, and the two foam layers are bonded together without employing adhesives. The multidensity foam article is prepared by placing a first formulation capable of yielding a firm foam into a mold and permitting said formulation to start creaming, rising and foaming; introducing a second liquid formulation capable of forming a soft foam into the mold after the first formulation has completed 10 to 80% of its potential rise so that the second formulation passes through the rising first formulation and the first formulation floats upon the second formulation; and then permitting the two formulations to cream, foam, rise and cure into a single multidensity article having a firm supportive foam layer and a soft foam layer, which layers are bonded and knitted together at their common boundary during the curing process.

摘要： A system is disclosed for a plural component plastics reaction injection molding machine which provides continuous supply and recycling of each of a plurality of liquid components between a mixing head and separate supply tanks for the respective liquid components. The system is designed to use a portion of the respective recycle conduits of the several components as supply conduits to the head, in parallel with the normal supply conduit to the head, during periods of reaction injection taking place in the mixing head, whereby to permit the employment of smaller diameter conduits in the aforesaid portions of the system without reducing the capacity of the molding system. Further economy is achieved by design of the aforesaid portions of the conduit systems to dispose either the supply or recycle conduit concentrically within the other.

The mixing elements are so arranged as to provide multiple splitting of the components during a serpentine traversal through the mixer, resulting in an efficient mixing of the reacting components, promoting the formation of a uniform formed product. Immediately after mixing is complete the mixing elements are withdrawn from the mixing tube and a reamer traverses the tube to clean out residual reactants prior to the next mixing operation.
