    • In order to connect and couple a member to an insulated wire, a pressure connection terminal comprises a base, two side walls extending from the base, an electrically-connecting portion disposed at a first end portion of the terminal, a pressure connection blade which is disposed between the first and second end portions of the terminal and which is adapted to receive and strip off a corresponding insulating portion of the insulated wire, a first holder disposed near the second end portion for holding the insulated wire, and a second holder disposed between the first end portion and the pressure connection blade for holding the electric wire. Additionally, the pressure connection terminal further includes a first and second projections provided on the base respectively corresponding to the first and second holders, so as to secure the electric wire cooperatively therewith.

    • A flexible conductor connector in the form of a flat metal foil laminated with alternate layers of adhesive and plastic, having a metal spade plug connector attached to its end. The metal foil may be exposed and bonded to the metal connector by means of a conductive adhesive. The spade connector may be provided with a pair of wrap-around arms having teeth at their ends and the conductor has a portion of one side of its laminate removed down to the bare metal foil. The arms are crimped around the laminated foil and the teeth engaged into a plastic layer but not penetrating to the foil. Further piercing teeth may be provided on a second set of arms to extend through the entire laminate and mechanically affix the conductor lead end to the connector.

    • A connector for use with insulated cables comprises an insulating holder for the insertion thereinto of at least one elongate contact pin having a rear portion provided with at least one bendable, wing-like clamping part, projecting at right angles from the rear portion when in a non-clamping position. The clamping part can be bent over against the cable to penetrate its insulation thereby to make electrical contact with a conductor of the cable. For more rapid connection, and to ensure better electrical contact between cable and conductor and contact pin, the clamping part is formed as an apertured clamping lug, the rear portion of the contact pin having at least one projection which is at least partially surrounded by the lug in the clamped position thereof. The lug has at least one cutting edge on its inner perimeter and/or the projection has at least one such edge on its upper perimeter. The lug can be bent into an intermediate position after the contact pin has been inserted into the holder, in which position the lug locks the contact pin in the holder.

    • Braided fine wire cable is prepared for termination by electrical terminals by a coating of dielectric material such as curable varnish which coats and embeds the myriad of fine wires. The coating upon hardening imparts structural integrity to the otherwise very flexible cable, enabling handling. The coating also retains the wire portions many of which may be severed during application of electrical terminals thereto to obtain electrical connection of portions of the terminals with ends or surfaces of many of the wires, thus preventing disintegration of the cable's termination region when the terminals are applied. The hardened coating also enables the cable region to be shaped and formed to some extent, even including cutting or notching the cable, to adapt the cable region to the structure of the terminals, enabling use of existing terminals used for terminating solid flat conductor cable, for example.

    • An electrical socket for mounting on a flat, flexible conductor carrier (FFC), for connecting an electrical plug (P) to a conductor (C) on the conductor carrier (FFC), comprises a base plate having a central plug receiving opening. A pair of contact springs extend from opposite edges of the base plate and have arcuate contact surfaces which project across the opening on one face of the plate for resiliently engaging the plug (P) between them.     • An electrical terminal for flat cable comprising first and second metal plate portions having a cable penetrating tab-like lance and a socket aligned with the lance, respectively, the socket having lips pushed out of the plane of the plate portion and converging towards their free ends to define a slot-form lance receiving mouth. During termination, the cable will be penetrated by the lance and a portion of the cable conductor will be drawn into the mouth by the lance and compressed between a face of the lance and one lip.     • A method and apparatus are disclosed for terminating multi-conductor cable. A plurality of terminals are preloaded partially into a housing leaving their crimped terminating portions extending therefrom in such a position as they can be readily crimped connected to a cable. This allows for the terminals to be gang handled during the loading of the housing and yet be separated for individual termination on the cable. The cable can be crimped simultaneously to all of the terminals and the terminals fully inserted into the housing in subsequent operations. The terminal used with the subject method and apparatus includes an extra tine which serves alignment, stabilization, and cable positioning functions.
