    • A flush plug and a collar are used in installing a drain or cleanout. A flush plug is temporarily attached to the nipple of a cleanout or to a drain base and leveled. Concrete is then poured flush with the top of the flush plug. After the flush plug is removed from the cured concrete, a collar is installed in the hole in the concrete left by the flush plug. The outside of the lower portion of the collar is beveled like the flush plug. The upper portion of the collar includes a sleeve rising above the top surface of the surrounding concrete by an amount equal to the thickness of the specific floor finish. Tile or other finish may then be laid to around the collar. The installed drain will be flush and level with the flooring around it.

    • An adjustable plumbing fitting has a piston rotatably and telescopically engaged in a housing, with one end of the housing adapted to be connected to a first plumbing part, and a cylindrical extension on the piston projecting from an opposite end of the housing and adapted to be connected to a second plumbing part. In one embodiment, two housings and associated pistons are integrally joined together to form a T-fitting for connecting the overflow and drain of a bathtub. In another embodiment, the housing is integrally formed with a J-shaped drain trap, and in another embodiment the housing and/or piston is integrally formed with a water closet flange.

    • A metallic air admittance valve has a tubular body with a valve chamber integral to one end of the tubular body. The valve chamber has a valve and an air inlet configured to permit the flow of air when the pressure within the valve is less than the pressure outside of the valve, but to prevent the flow of air when the pressure within the valve equals or exceeds the pressure outside of the valve. The tubular body and valve chamber are fabricated from metal and, therefore, do not emit noxious or toxic fumes when subjected to fire. Plumbing systems in commercial buildings may have metallic air admittance valves located within the plenum area of the building without presenting the risk of the distribution of toxic fumes throughout the building when the air admittance valve is subjected to fire.

    • A non-return device (10) comprises a flat silicone rubber tubing (50) defining a pair of walls (70, 90) which separate to admit fluid in a forward direction but remain together to block fluid flow in a reverse direction. A tubular body (30) surrounds the tubing (50) and comprises an off-set outlet (34) to provide an uninterrupted fluid flow surface for use in a non-vertical orientation. The tubing (50) is mounted on a cartridge (130) which moves axially within the tubular body and compresses the tubing against the tubular body to effect a seal when the device is mounted on an outlet. The tubing (50) provides good operational characteristics and sensitivity as a consequence of having a wall thickness which is 0.3% to 3% of its width.

    • A roof vent ingress prevention device includes a generally tubular base having a circumferential side wall, a lower pipe-engaging section and an upper section having at least two side vents formed therein, the side vents extending through the side wall for venting of gas from within the generally tubular base. A base slippage prevention device such as a circumferential bead or outward slant to the wall means is mounted on an outer face of the circumferential side wall intermediate the lower pipe-engaging section and the upper section of the generally tubular base and is operative to prevent the generally tubular base from slipping downwards into a roof vent on which it is mounted. Finally, a vent cap is mounted on the upper section of the generally tubular base, the vent cap including a plurality of vent openings formed therein for venting of gas from within the generally tubular base.
