    • A motor vehicle chair system for wheelchair users. The chair system comprises a driver seat having a fixed portion, a mobile seat portion and a lifting mechanism. The fixed portion is secured inside a motor vehicle. The mobile seat portion is moveably coupled to the fixed portion and the lifting mechanism. The lifting mechanism includes a lifting portion, a horizontal arm and a drive mechanism. The horizontal arm is capable of pivoting and sliding in a generally horizontal plane. The drive mechanism is operatively coupled to the lifting portion for horizontal and vertical movement. The lifting portion is operatively coupled to the horizontal arm whereby the drive mechanism moves the mobile seat portion relative to the horizontal arm in such that the mobile seat portion is capable of swiveling around within a space between a steering wheel and B column, moving horizontally and vertically and exiting and re-entering a motor vehicle.

    • An improved hoist is disclosed to reposition a load relative to a vehicle compartment such as a trunk of a vehicle. The hoist comprises a base for location on a generally horizontal lower surface of the vehicle compartment. A horizontal telescoping shaft has a first and second distal end extending from opposed sides of the base for engaging with opposed generally vertical surfaces of the vehicle compartment. A horizontal expander coacts between the first and second distal ends for applying a horizontal engaging force between the opposed generally vertical surfaces of the vehicle compartment for horizontally stabilizing the base within the vehicle compartment. A vertical telescoping shaft having a distal end extends vertically from the improved hoist for engaging with a upper generally horizontal surface of the vehicle compartment. A vertical expander coacts between the base surface and the distal end of the vertical telescoping shaft for applying a vertical engaging force between the lower and upper generally horizontal surfaces of the vehicle compartment for vertically stabilizing the base within the vehicle compartment. A column extends from the base for supporting a boom for repositioning the load relative to the vehicle.

    • A personal mobility vehicle (PMV) lift for loading and offloading a personal mobility vehicle (PMV) into and from a rear portion of a vehicle, the vehicle having an interior floor and a trailer hitch rigidly attached to the rear of the vehicle to which the PMV lift is rigidly engageable. The PMV lift receives substantially all of its support from the trailer hitch and includes an elongated laterally extending lifting boom and a drive mechanism connected adjacent a proximal end thereof. The drive mechanism includes an elongated flexible lifting cable or belt which is operably connectable for raising and lowering the PMV by operation of the drive mechanism. An upright stanchion is supportively connected to the lifting boom while an elongated lift support arm is supportively connected to a lower end of the stanchion. A trailer hitch engaging member is connectable at one end to the trailer hitch, the other end of which is connected to a proximal end of the lift support arm. The PMV lift is substantially fully supported by the trailer hitch.

    • An article carrier for a vehicle is attachable to a rear mounted vehicle attachment, such as an elevatable lift attachment. The article carrier includes a tray having at least one article receiving track mounted therein for receiving an article. The tray is affixable to the vehicle attachment. A cover is movably mounted on the tray for movement between a first closed position enclosing the tray and an article mounted thereon and a second, open position wherein the cover is spaced from the tray to expose substantially all of the tray for article loading and unloading. Article tie-downs are carried on the tray for securing an article mounted on the tray in a fixed, stationary position. Latches are provided on the cover and the tray for releasably latching the cover in the first closed position.

    • The present invention resides in a wheelchair lift/carrier for use in transporting a folded wheelchair on a motor vehicle trailer hitch. The wheelchair lift/carrier comprises a vertical support shaft attached to vertical trailer hitch on one side and to a rotate arm shaft on the other side with first rotation means. The rotate arm shaft is attached to a locking head near the top section thereof with second rotation means a swing arm shaft with third rotation means. An inverted T-shaped, bottom support shaft is attached to the bottom of the swing shaft, wherein said bottom support shaft containing front wheel and rear wheel support means for a wheelchair. Stabilizing guides, locking and unlocking means and linkage means form an integral part of the wheelchair lift/carrier.

    • An improved wheelchair and power booster is disclosed. It employs a drive/brake system incorporated in each main wheel connected to lever arms for propelling the wheelchair by engaging the brake and moving the lever arms either forward or rearward to move the associated main wheel forward or backward. Releasing the brakes allows free wheeling. A parking brake lock loop which is located on the lever on the arm locks the brakes. A single front wheel is utilized when pivoted from a leg foot rest. The front wheel may caster freely or may be controlled directly by a manual steering handle. The main wheels are removable for transport and storage and the frame folds to a compact generally rectangular shape for easy carrying along with the wheels in a passenger vehicle. The frame also is designed with a U shaped frame member open at the rear and the seat moves out of place to allow the wheelchair to be backed over a residential or commercial toilet to allow the wheelchair occupant to use such facilities without leaving the wheelchair. A booster assembly including a replacement main wheel with an internal brake and a lever arm rotatably secured to the wheel hub through the brake is provided as a replacement for conventional wheelchair main wheels. The booster assembly includes a brake actuating control and a parking lock located at the hand grip end of the lever arm.
