    • A power input flange is fixed to the tip of a power input shaft whose diameter increases in steps from a tip thereof along a main body thereof and which is supported within a casing, and a power output disk is supported upon the outer peripheral surface of the power input shaft. A power input disk is supported upon the outer peripheral surface of the power input shaft between the power input flange and the power output disk, and a power roller is provided which is contacted at a variable inclination with both the power input disk and the power output disk. A member which biases the power input disk in the direction of the power output disk is supported upon the power input flange. And the power input flange is supported via a radial bearing upon the outer peripheral surface of a tubular shaped support portion which projects inwards from the casing. By this, the diameter of the support portion is increased as compared with the case in which the power input shaft is directly supported by the casing. By this structure it is possible to increase the strength of the support portion and make the casing more compact, and also the supply of lubricating oil to the biasing member is facilitated.

    • A tracking control system for use in a digital video disc (DVD) system requires generation of a precise error tracking signal. A tracking control system has an optical detector for reading a light beam reflected from a light beam spot radiated on a recording medium. Errors in tracking are detected and controlled by a tracking error signal generated in part through pulse shaping circuits controlled by a differential amplifier. Phase difference pulses generated by the pulse shaping circuits are free from noise impulses and other anomalies which could affect accurate tracking. The differential amplifier enables regulation of a phase difference offset and eliminate noise impulses while still maintaining the frequency characteristics necessary for high density recording mediums.

    • A liquid l-n-menthol composition containing 30 to 80% by weight of (-)-n-isopulegol and a process for preparing a liquid l-n-menthol composition comprising mixing 20 to 70 parts by weight of liquid menthol at a temperature of not lower than 42.degree. C. as obtained in the production of l-n-menthol with 30 to 80 parts by weight of (-)-n-isopulegol are disclosed. Further, the liquid l-n-menthol composition in which part of the (-)-n-isopulegol is replaced with 3-l-n-menthoxypropane-1,2-diol and the process for preparing the same are also disclosed. The liquid l-n-menthol composition of the present invention is less expensive than conventionally available menthol and yet has an improved feeling of coolness (particularly, the bitterness is reduced) and can be used in place of conventional menthol. Besides, the liquid menthol composition of the present invention is excellent in workability and hygiene on use. Further, by replacing part of the (-)-n-isopulegol component with 3-l-n-menthoxypropane-1,2-diol, both the odor of menthol and the irritation on the skin by menthol can be softened, and the feeling of mildness can be more increased.
