    • A shape detection apparatus able to accurately detect the image position of a target object even when the shape of the scanning window does not match the shape of the image of the target, and even when the scanning position of the scanning window does not precisely match the image position of the target is provided. This shape detection apparatus comprises a video image producer; an image memory; an approximate position evaluator for evaluating the approximate position of the image of the target; an edge point detector for defining plural sampling line windows having a predetermined length for detecting the image density at the detected approximate position of the image, and detecting image density edge points in these sampling line windows as the contour point positions of the target image; and a detection window setter for setting the contour lines of the target image from the detected contour point positions.

    • An object of this invention is to provide a steering lock device of the type that a key rotor is coupled to the shift lever of an automatic transmission, which is reduced in size, thus occupying a relatively small space when installed. The steering lock device, an accommodating section, which accommodates a rotary member and a slider, is provided on the outer cylindrical surface of a housing in such a manner that it is located above the axis of the housing, and its longitudinal direction is in parallel with the direction of a tangent line to the outer cylindrical surface of the housing, whereby the accommodating section is not so much protruded from the sidewalls of the housing. The rotary member is turned about its shaft by a cam which is turned together with a key rotor. The slide is moved longitudinally of the accommodating section in association with the movement of the shift lever.

    • A coordinate input apparatus in which by indicating a desired position on a coordinate input surface by an input pen, coordinate value data of the indicated position is detected and output, includes: an output device to output the coordinate value data; a detector for detecting the down state of the input pen; a memory for storing the coordinate value data detected after the elapse of a predetermined time from the detection of the pen-down state by detector; and a controller for allowing the coordinate value data stored in the memory to be output by the output device such as a liquid crystal display. With the apparatus, the fluctuations of the coordinate value data just after the pen-down operation and just before the pen-up operation can be eliminated and the stable coordinate value data can be always output. An erroneous detection due to the fluctuation of the coordinate value data upon coordinate input can be prevented.
