    • A light transmitting rod (22) on an end surface of which is disposed a reflecting mirror (26) and on the other end surface of which is mounted a lamp (44) as a light source for emitting light into the light transmitting rod (22) is attached to a base (12), and a diffusion stripe (24) is formed by applying fine powder having a high refractive index to the outer circumferential surface of the light transmitting rod (22) in a rectilinearly pin-striped manner along the axial direction thereof, whereby an even linear light profile of high luminous energy level and having uniform luminous energy as well as no polarization which is also irradiation light having a small light distribution beam angle and being substantially parallel rays can be obtained. As a result, it is possible to provide a light source unit used suitably in business and office machines such as an image scanner, an optical printer, a monochromatic copying machine, a color copying machine, a facsimile machine and the like.

    • A method of producing polymer particles having a particle size distribution of .+-.25% with respect to each average particle size in an amount of 95 wt. % or more, within the average particle sizes ranging from 1 .mu.m to 100 .mu.m, is disclosed, which comprises the steps of: (1) adding a polymer dispersion stabilizer in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt. % to a hydrophilic organic liquid in which the polymeric dispersion stabilizer is soluble; (2) adding thereto at least one vinyl monomer in an amount of not more than 50 times by weight the amount of the polymeric dispersion stabilizer, which monomer is soluble in the hydrophilic organic liquid, but a polymer synthesized from the monomer being swelled or substantially insoluble in the hydrophilic organic liquid; and (3) polymerizing the monomer under the condition that the amount of the vinyl monomer is 200 wt. % or less of the hydrophilic organic liquid.

    • A method for the production of non-odorous garlic paste is disclosed. This method comprises (i) subjecting garlic bulbs as wrapped in the skin to a heating treatment, adding water to the garlic bulbs, coarsely crushing the garlic bulbs, and separating the skin and the unwanted part of garlic bulbs from the resultant crushed mass of garlic and leaving behind a garlic clove-containing liquid, (ii) heating the clove-containing liquid together with vitamin B.sub.1, rice bran, or yeast added thereto, (iii) heating the resultant blend in the presence of a cellulase or in the absence of the cellulase thereby obtaining a mixture, and (iv) heating either the liquid part of the mixture resulting from the removal of solids therefrom or the mixture in its unmodified form together with soybean flour, soybean milk, or soybean milk flour.The cellulase used in this method is produced by a microorganism belonging to genus Trichoderma or the genus Aspergillus.
