    • An optical disc has a first transparent substrate, a second substrate, and at least a first and a second recording layer formed between the substrates. The first substrate has a first surface and an opposing second surface, the first surface is a beam incidence surface for a laser beam, the second surface having a first concave section and a first convex section formed adjacent to each other thereon, the first concave section being farther than the first convex section from the incidence surface, first pre-pits being formed on the first concave section. The second substrate has a second concave section and a second convex section formed adjacent to each other thereon, the second concave section being farther than the second convex section from the incidence surface, second pre-pits being formed on the second concave section, a top surface of each second pre-pit being closer than a top surface of the second convex section to the beam surface. The second recording layer is farther than the first recording layer from the incidence surface. The second recording layer is formed with a dye mixture of cyanine dye and imonium dye having relations Wa>Wb and na>nb, in which Wa and Wb are a mass of the cyanine dye and the imonium dye, respectively, and “na” and “nb” are refractive indices of the cyanine dye and the imonium dye, respectively, to the laser beam having a specific wavelength, and having a relation na−nc>0.1 in which “nc” is a refractive index of the dye mixture.

    • A thermal head has heating elements that can be selectively driven independently from one another during a driving operation to directly heat, and thereby thermally activate, regions of a heat-sensitive adhesive layer of a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet while the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet is moved relative to the thermal head with the heating elements disposed in opposing relation to the respective regions of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer. All but at least one of the heating elements are selectively driven so that (a) a preselected region of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer disposed in opposing relation to each non-driven heating element is not directly heated, and thereby not directly thermally activated, by the non-driven heating element, (b) the regions of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer disposed in opposing relation to the respective driven heating elements are directly heated, and thereby directly thermally activated, by the respective driven heating elements, and (c) each preselected region of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer opposed to a non-driven heating element is thermally activated with heat transmitted from surrounding directly heated regions of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer of the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet.

    • An engine for an outboard motor is provided that can include a crankcase having a crankcase chamber, a cam chamber, and an oil pan disposed below the crankcase. The engine can also include a crank chamber oil-return passage through which lubricating oil can be returned from the crank chamber to the oil pan. Further, the engine can include a cam chamber oil-return passage through which lubricating oil can be returned from the cam chamber to the oil pan. Finally, the engine can also include a gas passage to provide communication between the crank chamber, the cam chamber, and the oil pan in order to allow passage of blow-by gas without substantial interference with the movement of the lubricating oil.
