    • An ink jet printer measures a time period over which a print head thereof is in intimate contact with a head cap thereof, and based on results of the measurement regularly removes thickened ink adhering to the print head. An ink jet printer according to another form measures a time period over which the print head is in a state in which ink is neither delivered therefrom nor drawn therein, and a parameter related to an evaporation rate of a solvent or water from the ink. The ink jet printer removes thickened ink adhering to the print head based on the measured time period and the measured parameter.

    • A glass antenna attached to a vehicle side window glass for receiving radio waves such as FM radio broadcast waves and AM radio broadcast waves is provided.     • A mobile communication system includes a first base station which defines a first cell and a second base station which defines a second cell. In this mobile communication system, when communication conditions of a first mobile station currently radio-linked to the first or second base station have degraded, then the first base station stores identification information of a second mobile station currently radio-linked to the first base station and causes the second mobile station to hand over to the second cell, and thereafter changes a first radio frequency currently used in the first cell to a second radio frequency and sends the second base station a message that carries identification information of the second mobile station and information indicating the second radio frequency. When the message is received, the second base station causes the second mobile station to hand over to the first cell.
