    • The present application is directed to access isolation for multi-operating system devices. In general, a device may be configured using firmware to accommodate more than one operating system (OS) operating concurrently on the device or to transition from one OS to another. An access isolation module (AIM) in the firmware may determine a device equipment configuration and may partition the equipment for use by multiple operating systems. The AIM may disable OS-based equipment sensing and may allocate at least a portion of the equipment to each OS using customized tables. When transitioning between operating systems, the AIM may help to ensure that information from one OS is not accessible to others. For example, the AIM may detect when a foreground OS is to be replaced by a background OS, and may protect (e.g., lockout or encrypt) the files of the foreground OS prior to the background OS becoming active.

    • A topical composition and the method using the composition, which contains an antifungal agent and a low potency anti-inflammatory steroid which is safe and effective such as desonide or its derivative. The low potency steroid agent does not cause side effects such as skin atrophy, striae and hypopigmentation. In a representative example, the low potency anti-inflammatory steroid has the following structure: wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 taken independently can be H, C1-C10 alkyl, C1-C10 alkenyl, C3-C10 cycloalkyl, and phenyl groups; R1 and R2 taken together can be C3-C10 cycloalkyl; and R3, and R4 taken independently can be H, C1-C10 alkyl, C1-C10 alkenyl, C3-C10 cycloalkyl, phenyl, C7-C10 phenylalkyl, carboxylate, sulfonyl, phosphoryl, and phosphonyl groups. The composition can be formulated in a dosage form such as a cream, ointment, gel, lotion, foam, powder, aerosol, spray, shampoo, or liquid solution. The composition can be used to treat a fungal disease such as tinea pedis, tinea capitis, tinea corporis, tinea versicolor, tinea cruris, and candidiasis as well as intertriginous dermatitis complicated by candidiasis.

    • Firmware-based conversion methods for storing converted firmware variables in a firmware storage device, such as flash memory. Under one method, “eager” compression of firmware is performed. In response to a storage request, a determination is made to whether a compressor is available. If it is, the firmware variable is stored in a compressed form in the storage device; if not, the firmware variable is stored in an uncompressed form. In response to a read request for a stored firmware variable, a determination is made to whether the variable is stored in a compressed or uncompressed form. If it is compressed, a decompressor is employed to return the variable to its uncompressed form prior to providing it to the requestor; already uncompressed variables are provided directly to the requester. An application program interface is provided to enable operating system runtime access to the firmware variables. Similar conversions may be employed separately or in parallel, including encryption.

    • The subject mater herein relates to computing systems and, more particularly, to proxied firmware updates. Some embodiments provide one or more of systems, methods, software, and firmware that, upon receiving a source of power, initialize an out-of-band controller that, may initialize a network interface to facilitate communication by the out-of-band controller with network resources and receive a firmware update payload from a remote network source over the network interface. These, and other embodiments may also include powering on a computing system including a BIOS and initializing at least a portion of the BIOS. If the computing system supports proxied firmware updates and a firmware update exists in a memory, such embodiments retrieve the payload and launching the payload to implement the firmware update.
