摘要： The duplicator comprises a housing with a carrier supporting first and second spaced platens alternately movable by the carrier to a light exposure station in the housing. Master microfiches to be duplicated are manually positioned on the platens such that when a master microfiche on the first platen is in the housing being exposed, a second master microfiche may be loaded on the second platen, preparatory to having a duplicate made. A foot pedal is provided to actuate movement of the platen carrier and also control a vacuum hold down system for the master microfiches positioned on the platens. A capstan driven by a geneva movement in the housing positions successive lengths of film from a film reel in the housing at the light exposure station for contact printing with the master microfiche on the platen positioned at the light exposure station. A pivoted pair of rollers exert a tension bias on film from the reel to the capstan to maintain it taut and also provide an arrangement whereby the resistance to pulling movement of the successive lengths of film by the capstan is always the same for each successive length independently of the amount of film on the supply reel in the housing.

摘要： A purging system is provided for reducing and substantially eliminating contaminants, moisture, residual gas and the like from a work station such as, for example, a developer station in which ammonia gas is used for development of diazo type films. The system includes a check valve connected between one end of the developer station and a supply of compressed air, and a 3-way valve connected between the other end of the developer station and a supply of ammonia gas and an ammonia exhaust container. During development, the ammonia is passed into the developer station under a relatively high pressure and the flow of the ammonia is stopped by the check valve. After development, the pressure in the developer station is lowered thereby opening the check valve and causing flow of air from the supply of compressed air through the developer station, the 3-way valve, and into the exhaust container to thereby purge the entire system of contaminants, moisture and residual ammonia gas.

摘要： A dry-process method and apparatus for producing archival microform records from light reflecting hard copy utilize a dry-process mask film strip which is photosensitive to and microimaged by light reflected and reduced or condensed from the hard copy and developed by heat to provide microimaged transparencies therein as the mask film strip is moved to an imaging and developing station. It also utilizes a dry-process microform film which has archival properties and which is sensitive to and microimaged and developed by short pulses of electromagnetic energy above a threshold value applied thereto through the microimaged transparencies of the superimposed mask film strip when it is moved to an image transferring station to provide in the microform film imaged microform records which conform to the transparent microimages in the dry-process mask film strip and, hence, the hard copy and which have achival properties. The microform film is preferably in the form of a microfiche.

摘要： An apparatus for the rapid production of graphic information on a radiation-sensitive heat-developable strip material by exposing to radiant energy a smoothly continuously advancing strip, developing the strip material by a small efficient heating unit contiguous with the apparatus, and moving the developed material past an image-viewing station. The heating unit consists of a chamber member with a fine porous wall over which the strip material is moved and a resistance heater. Air is moved through the chamber and through the wall against the strip material at a rate to aerodynamically support the strip material from the wall and to afford convective heating of the strip material to a developing temperature. The strip material is maintained at the developing temperature for a time sufficient to develop the strip material.

摘要： The application discloses a diazo copying machine using various lengths of original material and copy material. A first conveying means moves the copy and original material past an exposing station to a separating station in a superimposed relation. The separated original material from the separating station is discharged into an original material receiver which can be variously positioned on the apparatus to either receive lengths of original material or to roll up long lengths of original material. The separated copy material is moved past a developing station and discharged at a first outlet or is selectively moved over two different paths to a copy receiver at a second outlet. This movement of the copy material is controlled by the settings of gates in the copy material conveying path. These controls permit use of the copying machine with original and copy material of varying lengths.
