SCHNEIDER & CIE, 42, Rue d'Anjou, and COMPAGNIE DES FORGES ET ACIERIES DE LA MARINE ET D'HOMECOURT, 12, Rue de la Rochefoucauld, both in Paris. April 23, 1935, No. 12257. Convention date, March 4. Addition to 404,878 and 409,215. [Class 92 (i)] Relates to means as described in the parent Specifications for hoisting and supplying ammunition to a pair of turret guns 1, 2, Fig. 2, comprising a fixed hoist 10 co - axial with the turret through which ammunition is raised into containers 14, the support 16 of which can be tilted about trunnions 23, Fig. 4, which by rotation of the trunnion support 12 can be brought parallel to the gun trunnions 3. In the prior constructions, the containers were tilted into alignment with loading trays c movable in elevation with the gun and laterally projecting from the gun cradle in a manner to restrict the elevation of the gun. According to the present invention, in order to facilitate elevation of the gun up to 90‹ the containers are spaced from the gun as shown in Fig. 2, and are swung out of the support 16 about axes parallel to themselves and subsequently tilted into alignment with the trays c by continuous operation of the same lever 29. In the construction shown in Figs. 2, 4 and 7, which relates to containers 14 for fixed ammunition as described in Specification 404,878, the lever 29 operates through rack 28 and pinion 27 to rotate bevel gearing for swinging the containers out of the support about hinges 15. The lever is connected by links 33, 32 to a locking bolt 30 engaging the disc-like trunnion 24 to prevent tilting of the trays until they have been swung fully outwards from the support. In the modification shown in plan in Fig. 11, which relates to the containers for separate ammunition described in Specification 409,215, four containers are simultaneously moved out of the support by a pair of racks 28 connected with the lever 29.
