    • In one embodiment, a hydrocarbon containment system for placement under a vehicle is provided with a skid having a base. The base has at least one drain aperture for facilitating fluid communication through the base. A tubular dam formed of a hydrophobic hydrocarbon permeable fabric is disposed upon the base. The dam includes granular material capable of collecting hydrocarbons. A blanket is provided having laterally adjacent sheets of water permeable fabric with a layer of the granular material disposed between the sheets. The blanket is replaceably attached to the dam for replacing the blanket after collecting sufficient hydrocarbons.

    • A fluid capturing device designed to sanitize the chore of motorcycle chain maintainance. The three major components of this device are a drain channel 14, a flexible tube 12, and a container 10. The drain channel is long and slender and designed to fit under a chain to capture the fluid the drips off the chain. The channel has vertical walls around its perimeter and a floor with a slope. The Far wall 16 is tall enough to guard the tire and chassis components from getting splashed. The near wall 18 is substantially shorter to allow unfettered access to the lower portion of the chain, which is the portion that gets serviced. The flexible tube 12 supports the drain channel in an elevated position and allows adjustment in elevation and orientation. This tube also conveys the captured fluids away from the drain channel and into the container. The container 10 is designed to temporarily hold the fluids captured during service and to serve as a stable base. A drain cap 11 on the container allows the fluids to be drained off into a permanent storage container. A handle 13 lends convenience to carrying and positioning of the device.

    • A new oil drip mat apparatus for collecting oil which drips from motor vehicles and the like. The inventive device includes a base member having a planar bottom mat portion and a beveled rim fastened to the top surface of the mat portion to define a holding area. A plurality of layers of material are disposed within the holding area, with each layer performing a specific function. Two of the layers are a detergent mixture layer for absorbing and breaking down the oil, one of the layers is an animal hair layer for further absorbing oil, and one layer is a porous, stiff fibrous layer which allows passage of oil therethrough. The outermost layer is a u.v. resistant material which protects the underlying layers from the effects of the sun when the apparatus is used outdoors. If used indoors, the outermost layer is made of a porous, non-slip fabric material.

    • This invention consists of a mat which is designed to absorb a maximum amount of oil, keep the oil from seeping onto floors or work areas, be laid flat on floors or work areas, be unfolded during removal from containers, and folded to be repackaged in the original container. This is accomplished by a mat structure which internally incorporates mineral based absorbents, is pleated, and which has an underside composed of a material that is oil and abrasion resistant. Furthermore, the receipt/storage package is designed to keep the oil soaked mats from fouling areas external to this package. Such isolation of oil contaminated materials from other refuse constitutes sound environmental policy.

    • The present disclosure provides an inexpensive self contained lubrication system for the bearing which rotatably mounts a turbine engine shaft to the support housing in a turbine engine. The lubrication system includes a first seal assembly which extends between the shaft and the housing at a position axially spaced from one side of the bearing assembly and a second seal assembly extending between the shaft and the housing at the position axially spaced from the other side of the bearing assembly. The bearing assemblies form a sump chamber in the support housing which contains a lubricant. Each bearing assembly includes a resilient O-ring extending between the shaft and the support housing while two impellers attached to the shaft within the sump chamber pump the lubricant in the sump chamber through the bearing assembly and back to the sump chamber during shaft rotation.

    • A lubricating system is for a forward bearing and a rear bearing of an input shaft of an interaxle differential. The interaxle differential includes a housing having an oil sump therein and a number of elements thereof capable of rotating within the housing to splash oil about the interior of the housing. The lubricating system includes supply ports through the housing respectively aligned with the bearings which are capable of supplying oil thereto by gravity flow. An interaxle differential casing is mounted on the shaft for rotation therewith between the bearings and has an outer surface which is coaxially aligned with the shaft. An oil removing device is aligned with the outer surface of the interaxle differential casing to remove oil therefrom during rotation. A first channel extends forwardly and downwardly from the oil removing device to the supply port of the forward bearing for gravity transfer of oil thereto. A second channel extends rearwardly and downwardly from the oil removing device to the supply port for the rear bearing for gravity transfer of the oil thereto.
