摘要： A vacuum frame for holding at least one negative and a plate for exposure to intense light to transfer the negative image to the plate to fashion a printing plate. The frame has a base with a flat upper surface to support the plate and negative. A plurality of apertures are disposed about the periphery of the upper surface, the apertures communicating with a vacuum source. Overlying the upper surface and the apertures is a mesh material which defines a multiplicity of small air passages over the upper surface. The plate and negatives are supported on the mesh material and upper surface and are aligned by suitable aligning means. A flexible transparent cover is positioned over the upper surface to cover the negative, plate and mesh material. The evacuation of air through the apertures and air passages causes the cover, negative and plate to be held closely together and to the base for exposure of the plate.

A clamp plate is secured to the base and a clamp lever is attached to the clamp plate. A latch is loosely secured to a pin attached to the clamp lever and connected to a spring to provide a plate clamping force upon the clamp plate. A guide plate and a plate release preventing plate are attached to an outer longitudinal side of the base. An axial displacement control device is positioned at one longitudinal end of the cylinder while a circumferential displacement control device is positioned at the other longitudinal end thereof.

摘要： A blanket clamping and tensioning apparatus for use in a blanket cylinder in a rotary printing press is disclosed. An axial groove at the periphery of the blanket cylinder carries a pair of spaced inserts which define an interior chamber. A radially movable clamping bar assembly is carried within the chamber and contacts camming surfaces on the inserts. The ends of the blanket are inserted in the space between the inserts and the clamping bar assembly is moved radially inwardly thereby camming clamping means toward each other to grip the blanket. Four embodiments are disclosed in which there are shown different gripping portions of the clamping bar assemblies.

摘要： A printing roll is mounted in a printing machine in such a way that a sleeve on its outer surface can be removed axially while the roll remains substantially in its working position. One end bearing of the roll is free of axial restraint relative to the roll and is removably secured to a side frame of the machine. For axial positioning, an adjustable restrainer engages the roll axle at that end. Beyond the other side frame a counterpoise acts on the roll axle to support the roll when the one end bearing is removed. The counterpoise may be a hydraulically operated pull roll, permanently engaged to the roll axle through a yoke and a rolling contact bearing.
