摘要： A snap action switch including a switch in incipient form. The switch comprises a contact having a cut-out tongue mounted on a post with the tongue bent to form a spring, the post being one terminal. The other end of the element remote from the tongue end initially contacts an exposed second or third terminal above or below the other end. When an actuator or nose from a resilient body acts against the surround adjacent the tongue end, force is exerted against the contact. The contact snaps from the initial connection between the nose and one of the second or third contacts to the other. When the resilient body relaxes, the nose resumes its original position and the switch snaps back to resume a connection between the post and the initial connection with the second or third terminal.

摘要： In an electrical switch construction having a movable switch blade carried in the chamber of a housing and being moved between operating positions thereof by movement of an actuator, an overtravel spring engaging against the blade and the actuator for moving the blade in unison therewith as the actuator moves in unison therewith in one direction to a predetermined position relative to the housing and for thereafter preventing further movement of the blade in the one direction even though the actuator is further moved in that one direction beyond the predetermined position. A plate is carried by the housing and has a pivot arm bent therefrom at an angle relative thereto for providing a pivot for a part of the switch blade. The housing has a slot for holding the plate immediately adjacent the bent angle of the pivot arm.

摘要： A multi-position rotary switch comprising a support structure having a shaped shaft rotatably mounted therein, the shaft being formed with reduced sections to provide shaped portions on opposite sides of each reduced section. A rotor is slideably mounted on at least one of the shaped portions of the shaft and a detent is fixed to another shaped portion of the shaft for cooperating with the support structure to establish multiple angular operating positions for the switch. The rotor travels on a stator to establish electrical connections in the operating positions of the switch. The rotor comprises two substantially identical parts facing one another and a coupling sleeve engages the rotor parts and couples them together in fixed relation. By virtue of the reduced sections of the shaft, the shaped portions can be individually angularly turned by applying force thereto in order to adjust the relative positions of the rotor, stator, pawl, etc.

摘要： A shape-memory alloy actuated switch (SMAAS) is provided that enables the stable switching of two separate circuits. The presently disclosed SMAAS includes a substrate, one or more electrical contacts attached to the substrate for connecting to load circuits, and one or more electrically conductive elements for selectively connecting the one or more electrical contacts. The disclosed SMAAS also includes one or more shape-memory alloy actuators attached to the substrate. The one or more shape-memory alloy actuators are configured to move the one or more electrically conductive elements. The shape-memory alloy actuators are self-heated by passing current through the shape-memory alloy material. The disclosed SMAAS may also include electrical contacts to connect an external control current to the shape-memory alloy material. In some examples, the provided SMAAS includes one or more retention mechanisms to prevent movement of the electrically conductive elements after actuation.
