    • The valve comprises a first pressure chamber (2), an outlet chamber (6) and a valve body (8), cooperating with a first valve seat (12), and also a second pressure chamber (13) delimited by the valve body. The valve body (8) comprises a control piston (22) which cooperates with a second valve seat (26) and is movable between a closing position and an open position. The control piston delimits in a valve chamber (17) a first sub-chamber, which faces away from the second valve seat (26) and communicates with the first pressure chamber (2), a second sub-chamber, which faces the second valve seat (26) and communicates with the outlet chamber (6), and a middle sub-chamber, which surrounds the cylindrical surface of the control piston and communicates with the second pressure chamber (13). The control piston (22) establishes in the closing position transfer communication between the first and the middle sub-chamber, and in the open position transfer communication between the second and the middle sub-chamber. The valve body (8), which is designed as an equalizing piston, adjusts itself always like a follower piston with respect to the control piston (22) which may be driven by a controllable positioner (19), and is controllably displaceable thereby between the first valve seat (12) and the various open positions.

    • A coating material color change system includes a manifold having a first passageway through which a selected color flows during its selection, a plurality of coating material passageways intersecting the main passageway, and an equal plurality of coating material supply valves mounted to the manifold. Each coating material supply valve has a body and a member movable in the interior of the valve body for controlling the flow of the coating material to be supplied by that coating material supply valve through a respective coating material passageway to the main passageway, and a mechanism for actuating the member. The mechanism is controllable by a superatmospheric pressure fluid signal selectively to control the position of the member and thus the supply of the coating material to the first passageway. The manifold and valve bodies include second passageways and means for coupling the second passageways to a source of operating fluid under superatmospheric pressure. A valve seat couples each second passageway to the interior of a respective valve body. Intrinsically safe electrically operated valves control the flow of superatmospheric pressure fluid through respective second passageways from the source of superatmospheric pressure fluid to the interiors of the respective valve bodies.

    • A valve including a valve member having two different stable positions, and a valve operator for shifting the valve member between its two stable positions and holding the valve member in those positions. The valve operator includes a shuttle moveable between two extreme positions corresponding to the two stable positions, respectively, of the valve member. A first spring urges the shuttle toward one of its extreme positions and a second spring, stronger than the first spring, urges the shuttle toward the other of its extreme positions, these movements of the shuttle being transmitted to the valve member. A device, such as an electric solenoid, selectively renders the second spring ineffective with respect to the shuttle, so that when the second spring is ineffective the first spring causes the valve member to assume one of its stable positions, and when the second spring is not ineffective, the second spring causes the valve member to assume the other of its stable positions.

    • A valve having a valve body formed with a chamber with which a plurality of ports in the valve body communicate. At least one of the ports is adapted for connection to a source of pressurized fluid. A rocker valve member is pivotally mounted within the chamber and swings between two extreme positions in which it closes and opens at least one of the ports. A diaphragm within the chamber extends from the periphery of the rocker valve member and the margin of the diaphragm is secured in the valve body. All the ports in the valve body face one side of the diaphragm. An operator, for swinging the rocker valve member between its extreme positions, engages the rocker valve member on the side of the diaphragm opposite the side facing the ports, so that the diaphragm serves to isolate the ports from the operator. The chamber is defined in part by a wall facing the side of the diaphragm opposite the side of the diaphragm facing the ports, the wall being spaced far enough from the diaphragm so that when the portion of the chamber between the diaphragm and the port is pressurized, causing the diaphragm to swell in the direction of the wall, the wall is not engaged by the diaphragm.
