摘要： A fiber spinning device and process for manufacturing a web of fibers comprising a homogeneous mixture of fibers of different characteristics. Monocomponent fibers of different polymers can be extruded side-by-side from the same die system. Sheath/core bicomponent fibers can be alternated with monocomponent fibers formed of the same core polymer as used in the bicomponent fibers. Bicomponent fibers having a common core polymer and different sheath polymers can be extruded from alternate spinneret orifices in the same die plate. Multiple distribution plates are provided with surface grooves or depressions to direct polymer materials from independent sources to only selected spinneret openings in an array of spinneret openings while maintaining the polymers segregated from each other. Unique products formed from the improved mixed fiber technology are useful as high efficiency filters in various environments, coalescent filters, reservoirs for marking and writing instruments, wicks and other elements designed to hold and transfer liquids for medical and other applications, heat and moisture exchangers and other diverse fibrous matrices.

摘要： The present invention relates to a process and a device for the production of bi-component yarns containing bilaminar and multilaminar filaments.Two polymer compositions are spun after feeding through a dichotomic mixer possessing tubes of identical internal diameter (5 to 25 mm), inside which 4 to 9 helical elements are placed in series, the leading edge of each of the elements being placed at 90.degree. relative to the trailing edge of the previous element. The process and device according to the invention can be used for all types of spinning, namely solution spinning, melt spinning, semi-melt spinning and the like. The yarns obtained contain only a minor proportion of monolaminar filaments.

The filaments are made by extruding two different synthetic organic polymers simultaneously through the same elongated orifice and the polymers are fed to different orifices in different proportions or at different angles with respect to the axes of the orifices so that in some of the filaments the interface between the two polymer layers is along or parallel to the smaller axis of the cross-section thereof while the interface of other filaments is along or parallel to the larger axis.

摘要： A spin pack is provided for producing heterofilaments from two polymer streams. Each stream is subdivided and the subdivisions filtered and delivered to a common header. The two headers are parallel and are defined between the upper face of a spinnerette and the adjacent members. Off each header and extending toward the other are a plurality of grooves, the grooves of one header alternating with those of the other and constituting pairs or couplets. Between each pair of grooves there are a plurality of channels of precise dimensions, e.g. length of at least about 0.075 inch, width of at least about 0.016 inch and depth of from about 0.005 to 0.030 inch, and a spinning orifice is located centrally of each channel. In this fashion each orifice gets the same amount of each polymer.
