    • Tool holder connection arrangement for modular tools holder devices of a tool machine for connecting a first hollow element, provided with an internal threading and having a cylindrical axial seat, to a second hollow element provided with a shank insertable in the cylindrical axial seat of the first element. The shaft includes a circumferential groove and the shank includes a circumferential groove for receiving the crown of balls arrangement. The crown of balls arrangement releases or blocks the second element relative to the first element upon rotation of the shaft in a direction with respect to the first element. A dowel arrangement is provided for torsional blocking of the second element relative to the shaft. The dowel arrangement includes a radial bore through the second element and a head element engaging a groove formed in the shaft, the head element being maintained in engagement with the groove by an elastic pin.

    • A coupling between a tool head and a tool support exhibits, for rough positioning, a holding fixture pin connection. By at least one fastening bolt running in the axial direction of the tool support, the tool head is braced against the tool support. In doing so the fastening bolt engages through a first screw coupling with the tool head and through a second screw coupling with the tool support. The first and second screw couplings exhibit synchronized threads of differing pitch so that, when tightening the fastening bolt, the tool support and the tool head are braced against each other in the axial direction. Further, the fastening bolt exhibits a centering section which, in the assembled state of the coupling, centers the tool head relative to the tool support. The fastening bolt, in the assembled state of the coupling, is received in its entirety in the inside of the unit formed by the tool support and the tool head and is accessible only through a borehole. Advantageously, this borehole also acts as a coolant borehole. The coolant that flows through it during use accordingly rinses away impurities.

    • A tool holder for a gun drill or reamer has internal and external cylindrical rear end pilot portions and a radial pilot flange for precisely connecting coaxially with a rotatable and axially moveable power source. A sleeve confined coaxially within the internal cylindrical portion has an axially extending flat spline surface for effecting driving engagement with a mating flat of a tool shank. A contractible conical split collet at the forward end of the holder coaxially clamps the tool shank when moved axially to a clamping position by means of a non-rotatable nut secured to the collet for cocking out of axial alignment therewith to assure precise coaxial clamping of the tool shaft. The nut is in screw threaded engagement with a rotatable and non-axially moveable collar provided with beveled gear teeth for rotation by a Jacobs type tool.

    • A tool holder primarily designed for use in conjunction with EDM machines and also capable of functioning in conjunction with other machines where repeated tool positioning is desired. The tool holder includes a base portion for semi-permanent securement to the associated machine and includes a tool mounting surface having spherical projections disposed at the apices of an equilateral triangular area on the mounting surface. An indexing pin also projects outwardly of the mounting surface and a tool holding or test bar section is provided including a mounting surface in which three recesses are formed at the apices of an equilateral triangular zone of the same size as the firstmentioned zone, the projections being seatingly receivable in the recesses with the opposing mounting surfaces disposed in at least slightly spaced relation. The mounting surface of the tool holding or test bar section is provided with a bore for receiving the indexing pin and coacting structure is provided in the centers of the aforementioned zones for drawing the tool holding or test bar section toward the mounting surface of the base or body of the tool holder. This coacting structure is of the type wherein substantially equal forces may be applied to draw the tool holding or test bar section toward the base section during each instance of use of the tool holder.
