    • Biodegradable polymer blends suitable for laminate coatings, wraps and other packaging materials are manufactured from at least one nullhardnull biopolymer and at least one nullsoftnull biopolymer. nullHardnull biopolymers tend to be more brittle and rigid and typically have a glass transition temperature greater than about 10null C. nullSoftnull biopolymers tend to be more flexible and pliable and typically have a glass transition temperature less than about 0null C. While hard and soft polymers each possess certain intrinsic benefits, certain blends of hard and soft polymers have been discovered which possess synergistic properties superior to those of either hard or soft polymers by themselves. Biodegradable polymers include polyesters, polyesteramides, polyesterurethanes, thermoplastic starch, and other natural polymers. The polymer blends may optionally include an inorganic filler. Films and sheets made from the polymer blends may be textured so as to increase the bulk hand feel. Wraps will typically be manufactured to have good nulldead-foldnull properties so as to remain in a wrapped position and not spring back to an nullunwrappednull form.

    • A composite container having a barrier property and comprising a packaging material which comprises an inner surface layer, a barrier layer, and a base material layer wherein the barrier layer comprises one selected from nylon MXD 6 and a semi-aromatic polyamide resin, which is a copolymer comprising an aromatic polyamide forming component and an aliphatic polyamide forming component wherein the aromatic polyamide forming component comprises an aliphatic diamine and isophthalic acid and/or terephthalic acid, and the aliphatic polyamide forming component comprises a lactam or an aliphatic diamine, and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. The above packaging material may also comprise an inner surface layer having a barrier property and a base material layer wherein the inner surface layer having a barrier property comprises the above semi-aromatic polyamide resin. Such a composite container having a barrier property has both of a good barrier property and a sufficient strength, and is capable of being produced at a low cost without complicating the production process to be used therefor.

    • A packaging device and method for absorbing and reducing moisture as well as a manufacturing process for such device. The packaging device is a container made from paperboard such as containerboards or linerboards with a corrugated medium. The paperboard is insulated with moisture absorbing additives comprising charcoal, activated charcoal, activated carbon, or substances mostly comprised of carbon. Perforations and corrugated mediums in the boards may be added to further permit moisture to reach the corrugated medium, permitting further absorption by the additives embedded within the corrugated medium in between the boards. This packaging device and method is favorable for storing or transporting objects which are sensitive to or would benefit from low moisture/humidity conditions.
