摘要： A radiation shield for promoting direct pigmentation of human skin by solar radiation comprising a filter made from a plurality of layers of synthetic plastic, e.g., polyester or inorganic glass, each filtering different ranges of wave lengths. Substantially all wave lengths below 320 nm and above 450 nm are filtered out so that rapid tanning of the skin is effected without burning.

摘要： A heavy-current mercury low-pressure lamp with pressure equalization space, wherein the anode and cathode electrodes are arranged one behind the other in a bulb and wherein the one of the two arms of the discharge space projects coaxially into the bulb and passes through the annular-shaped anode. The arm of the discharge space which projects into the bulb extends at least as far as the cathode and surrounds the latter laterally. Arc-through through the pressure compensation space is prevented and the average useful life of such lamps is thereby prolonged.

摘要： A low pressure metal or metal halide vapor lamp for photocopying applications. In a preferred embodiment, the metal vapor comprises sodium. The low pressure sodium vapor lamp, having a preferred lamp aperture geometry, is operated in a continuous mode and provides illumination of increased brightness and of a color (yellow) which is optimum for providing a copy which is an accurate representation of the original. In order to decrease the warmup time of the lamp and achieve operating temperatures relatively quickly, an auxiliary heater is formed on the lamp. A two pin end cap may be used for electrical connections, one pin carrying filament power and the other carrying auxiliary heater power.

Rapid rotation of the tube adheres the liquid by centrifugal force to the inner surfaces of the tube.

摘要： A multi-purpose, high output, low brightness luminaire employing a large open front box-like housing with opposed lamp sockets in the side walls adapted to accommodate high wattage, high intensity discharge (HID) lamps is disclosed. Upper and lower curved reflectors are mounted adjacent the back wall of the housing and an oppositely curved intermediate, perforated reflector overlies a space between the upper and lower reflectors. The perforated reflector directs air entering through the back wall both through the perforations to sweep the lamps as well as upwardly and downwardly over the upper and lower curved reflectors. A perforated reflector screen is also provided across the luminaire in front of the lamps to shield the lamp arcs from view and if desired, a plurality of vertically and horizontally oriented louvers are provided to selectively control light distribution.
