摘要： A system is described for replaying, in any selected sequence, programs recorded on a tape. The system is adapted to read a tape having tape location information and program location information thereon. In a preferred embodiment, a keyboard is included for selecting desired programs for replay in any sequence. In response to that selection, a controller determines from the program location information where the selected programs begin and end on the tape and causes those programs to be replayed in the sequence selected.Preferably, the system also permits replay of any tape segment or part of a recorded program by operator input of tape location information corresponding to the starting and stopping tape locations of the selected tape segments.

摘要： In a fully flexible interactive program, options are presented to the user by means of a projected slide. When one option is selected, and is entered into the machine, a preconditioned memory energizes a servomechanism to advance a select one of plural videotape recorders to a particular segment. The servo controls the tape advance by comparing distance to go with a signal proportional to the square of the tape velocity. When the segment is reached, the videotape presents an audiovisual segment to the user, during which time information for subsequent options to be presented is coupled into the system, including identification of the next option slide to be presented and video segment identification corresponding to those options for preconditioning the memory.

Two counters are coupled to receive the enabling and disabling signals and are associated with each other to provide an output signal when the actual tape length and reference tape length are equal for a predetermined interval and inhibit the provision of the output signal when they are not equal for the predetermined interval.

摘要： Instruction decoding means decodes a received instruction. The instruction decoding means comprises a plurality of circuits each representing a different instruction and each providing an output signal at its output and decoding control means connected to each of the circuits for directing the decoded instruction in accordance with its contents to the input of a selected one of said circuits. Each of a plurality of storage circuits is coupled to the output of a corresponding one of the circuits of the instruction decoding means for storing the output signals of said circuits. A read and write circuit connected to the outputs of some of the storage circuits designates a selected one of a readout and a writein instruction and stores the designation in accordance with the contents of the storage circuits to which the read and write circuit is connected. A packing density circuit connected to the outputs of the others of the storage circuits designates a selected one of a first packing density and a second packing density and stores the designation in accordance with the contents of the storage circuits to which the packing density circuit is connected. The output of the read and write circuit is coupled to an input of the packing density circuit for designating the second packing density in the packing density circuit when the read and write circuit designates a readout. A packing density identification burst detecting means has an input coupled to a readout head of a magnetic tape for detecting the existence on the magnetic tape of a packing density identification burst. The output of the packing density identification burst detecting means is coupled to an input of the packing density circuit for designating the first packing density in said packing density circuit when the packing density identification burst detecting means fails to detect a packing density identification burst in the magnetic tape.
