摘要： A lithographic plate processing system includes apparatus for applying developer to the exposed surface of a lithographic plate, apparatus for spreading the developer uniformly over the exposed surface, a developer apparatus, apparatus for washing excess developer from the plate, and apparatus for applying gum arabic to the exposed surface of the plate, and may include apparatus for drying the plate. The developer spreader apparatus comprises a plurality of rectangularly shaped developer members mounted on a subframe for rotation about axes extending perpendicular to the exposed surface of the lithographic plate and positioned to rotate in overlapping circles. The subframe also supports a common drive apparatus for simultaneously rotating all of the developer members. Structure is provided for concurrently oscillating the plate and the developer members supported thereby along a path extending transversely to the direction of movement of the lithographic plate, thereby assuring that the developer is distributed uniformly over the entire exposed surface of the plate. The developer members may comprise either sponges or brushes mounted for engagement with the exposed surface of the lithographic plate.

摘要： A carrier sheet or film covered with a photo-hardenable emulsion of the desired color is placed in a vacuum frame in contact with the image to be copied and then exposed to ultraviolet light. The film is then developed and moved through a bath of liquid to which a compatible surfactant has been added, and scrubbed in this bath to remove the soluble emulsion therefrom by using a rotating spongy wheel moving over the surface of the emulsion faster than the film is moving through the liquid. All clinging surface liquid is then removed from the film by squeezing it between two sets of facing contacting ringers or rollers, and the film then rapidly dries in the air.

The developer solution dispenser supplies developer solution at a uniform hydraulic pressure over the full surface area of the offset printing plate without the use of spray nozzles.

The photosensitive layer or the extra layer adjacent to the substrate contains (A) a copolymer.
