    • A safety syringe includes a hollow needle for intravenous injection use eccentrically mounted in a syringe with said needle preliminarily held in a rigid blocking bulb generally conical shaped or truncated-cone shaped having an elongate stem portion protruding rearwardly from the bulb embedded in a rear bulb socket perpendicularly formed in a flexible plug inserted in a front porton of the syringe having a needle head portion formed on a rear portion of the needle, and a plunger slidably held in the syringe for boosting a liquid medicine in the syringe to be injected into a patient through the hollow needle having an annular groove annularly recessed in the plunger to be engageable with the needle head portion to drive and move the rigid blocking bulb frontwardly from the rear bulb socket into a front bulb socket which is normally inclinedly formed in the flexible plug and will be operatively biased perpendicularly in the plug when almost exhausting the liquid in the syringe when finishing the injection, whereby upon a retraction of the plunger and the needle coupled to the plunger rearwardly into the syringe, the elongate stem portion of the rigid bulb will be greatly obliquely biased in a larger angle by the front bulb socket of the plug to be much inclinedly positioned for efficiently blocking an outward protruding of the needle retracted in the syringe for really preventing an injury or infectious contamination to the surroundings as caused by the needle.

    • A cost effective, disposable, safety syringe having a conventional single ended hypodermic needle cannula retained in an axially extended position at the distall end of a cylinder by an epoxy bond formed with the central core of a needle carrying hub. A locking and retracting probe extends proximally into the syringe cylinder from the central core of the needle hub. A piston assembly, having an offset locking bore formed therein, is advanced distally through the cylinder to expulse fluid therefrom via the cannula and to receive the locking and retracting probe within the locking bore. A continued distal advancement of the piston assembly through the cylinder causes the central core and the cannula supported thereby to be broken away from the needle hub. Therefore, when the piston assembly is withdrawn proximally through the cylinder, the cannula is correspondingly retracted within and shielded by the cylinder to avoid an accidental needle stick and the spread of disease. The cannula is canted within the cylinder, such that another distal advancement of the piston assembly through the cylinder causes the cannula to be axially collapsed and, thereby, destroyed against a relatively thick shield formed at the distal aspect of the syringe cylinder.

    • A disposable device for the use, destruction and storage of a cannula useful for placement in blood vessels. The device includes a housing for the cannula with apertures through which the cannula extends and is slidably disposed. The cannula is fixedly disposed through a reel that is fitted in a cavity in the housing. The reel has an axis of rotation at right angles to the cannula and turning the reel wraps the cannula around the reel to deform, destroy and store it. The points of the cannula will be withdrawn into the housing through the apertures. When the points are fully withdrawn they will snap against the inside of the housing to provide sensory indications that the device can be handled safely.
