摘要： An apparatus for hoisting a wheel chair into and out of an enclosure including a swivel base having a stationary section that may be secured within the closure and a section rotatable on the stationary section about a vertical axis. A motor mount is positioned above and is connected to the rotatable section of the swivel base. An angled arm is pivotally connected to the motor mount and is capable of standing rigidly upright when in use and capable of folding down when not in use. A cable, attached to a reel at one end, has a series of pulleys located on the angled arm to guide the cable over the angled arm. The reel is formed to the motor mount and is connected to a motor on the motor mount through use of gearing. A hook is formed at the other end of the cable for use in hoisting.

摘要： A loader mechanism particularly suited for loading and unloading wheelchairs from a carrier mounted on top of a vehicle has a base frame member mounted on hinges along one edge of the vehicle top. The base frame member is raised and pivoted upwardly on the hinges beyond vertical when it is desired to load objects into or unload objects from the loader mechanism. In this latter position, additional mechanism is used to open a cover of the loader mechanism in a clam shell manner along second hinges attaching the cover to the base frame member along the edge of the base frame member opposite the edge which is hingedly attached to the vehicle top. When the cover is open and the base frame member is in its generally vertical position, an object such as a wheelchair is raised into and lowered from the loader mechanism by a cable which is wound into and unwound from the loader mechanism.

A storage platform is further provided that receives and secures the wheelchair behind the vehicle. The motors of the storage device may be powered by the vehicle's engine, and a remote may be provided for user control.
