摘要： A method of affecting a weight loss treatment comprising the step of providing an implant for placement within a hollow body organ. The implant comprising a member having an undeployed shape for delivery within a hollow body and one or more deployed shapes for implantation therein. The member has sufficient rigidity in its deployed shape to exert an outward force against an interior of the hollow body so as to bring together two substantially opposing surfaces of the hollow body. The implant also includes a means for changing the deployed shape of the member while implanted within the hollow body. The method further includes the steps of implanting the implant within a patient, implanting a data gathering device within the patient, collecting physiological data of a patient relating to the implant, and comparing the data to a fixed value and changing the shape of the member.

The handle is connected to an elongated hollow housing having distal and proximal ends, and a needle within the hollow housing. The device has a first cartridge containing at least one fastener releasably connectable to the distal end of the hollow housing. The fastener is at least partially housed within the needle and has at least two anchors connected together by a non-resilient flexible suture which does not resist deformation under compressible loads. The method uses the steps of inserting the distal end of the hollow housing to a target site within a body, attaching tissue together within the body by deploying the fastener, and removing the first cartridge and replacing it with a second cartridge.

摘要： Various systems and methods for predicting metabolic and bariatric surgery outcomes are provided. The systems and methods can also provide predictions for non-surgical metabolic and bariatric treatments. In general, a user can receive predictive outcomes of multiple bariatric procedures that could be performed on a patient. In one embodiment, a user can electronically access a metabolic and bariatric surgery outcome prediction system, e.g., using one or more web pages. The system can provide predictive outcomes of one or more different bariatric surgeries for the patient based on data gathered from the user and on historical data regarding outcomes of the different bariatric surgeries. The system can additionally provide predictive outcomes for not having any treatment and/or a comparison of the predictive outcomes of the one or more different bariatric surgeries to the predictive outcomes for not having any treatment.

摘要： Devices and methods are provided for forming one or more plications in the walls of a body cavity. In particular, endoscopic devices and methods are provided for forming and/or securing endoluminal tissue folds to reduce the volume of the gastric cavity. An end effector that includes a tissue receiving cavity can be delivered to a desired surgical site to allow a tissue fold to be formed within the tissue receiving cavity. A fastener can be used to secure the adjacent layers of tissue that form the tissue fold. The tissue folds can be effective to limit the stomach's capacity and create a feeling of satiety.
