    • Disclosed is a method for determining the location of a targeted mobile set using SUPL (Secure User Plane Location) in a wireless communications network, including sending a target set location initiation message to the targeted mobile set in response to a request message, causing a home positioning server to exchange the capacities of positioning methods with the targeted mobile set to select and store a suitable positioning method, and determining the location of the targeted mobile set by using the selected positioning method previously stored whenever the location is requested. Accordingly it is unnecessary for the targeted set to resend the target set location initiation message to the positioning server whenever repeating the location calculation for the repeated deferred service.

    • A method and apparatus for calculating a location of a User Equipment (UE) that is roaming, the method including receiving, by a Home Location Platform (HLP), a location request message from the UE for starting a positioning session with the UE, wherein the location request message includes specific identifier information of an area in which the UE is located, and positioning capability information including a positioning scheme supported by the UE, determining that the HLP calculated a position estimate, transmitting a request for an approximate coordinate information to a Visiting Location Platform (VLP), receiving the approximate coordinate information from the VLP, exchanging location information with the UE, and calculating a position of the UE using the exchanged location information. According to such a method, it is possible to efficiently perform the positioning of the UE, regardless of the location of the UE, thereby improving the quality of the positioning service.

    • A method for locating mobile terminals is provided. First, information of a home Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) of a target mobile terminal, the location of which is to be determined, is checked in response to a location service request from a client. Then, information of a visited PLMN, where the target mobile terminal is currently located, is checked based on the checked information of the home PLMN. The home PLMN calculates location assistance information of the visited PLMN using specific location information of the visited PLMN. The location assistance information is transferred to the target mobile terminal. This allows location information of a mobile terminal to be obtained irrespective of the area or communication network where the mobile terminal is located. It is thus possible to locate a mobile terminal in an area where no location assistance information is provided.
