    • A method of populating an image repository is disclosed. The method includes identifying a keyword from a dictionary and querying an image source using the keyword, thereby yielding a set of images associated with the keyword. The method also includes performing a second query on the image source using a combination of the keyword and one or more additional terms, thereby yielding a plurality of images associated with the combination. Then the plurality of images associated with the combination is subtracted from the set of images associated with the keyword, thereby yielding a difference set of images which are added to the image repository if the difference set of images satisfies predefined criteria.

    • Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for detecting local search queries. In one aspect, a method includes accessing a search query log that includes data specifying search queries corresponding to particular geographic regions and for at least one of the search queries corresponding to the particular geographic region generating a geo-query count that represents a total number of times that the search query was received over a specified period. The geo-query count is compared to a corresponding expected query count for the search query, where the expected query count is a baseline number of times that the query is expected to be received. In response to determining that the search query has a geo-query count that exceeds the corresponding expected query count by at least a threshold amount, the particular query is classified as a local query for the particular geographic region.

    • Computer-readable media stores instructions that perform operations including receiving a first electronic document; determining a first information gain value associated with a first line that divides the first electronic document into a first portion and a second portion; determining a second information gain value associated with a second line that divides the first electronic document into a third portion and a fourth portion; and determining which of the first information gain value and second information gain value is greater. Information gain values are determined by calculating a difference between an entropy value associated with a line and an entropy value associated with an electronic document. Entropy values associated lines or electronic documents are determined based at least in part on document objects in the portions created by a line or an electronic document.
