    • A temperature determining device is composed of a temperature detecting unit that detects a temperature of a determination object member based on an intensity of infrared rays from the object member, a unit for determining a temperature for correction that determines a temperature of an opposing member opposed to the object member or a temperature of a member whose temperature changes in correlation to a change in the temperature of the opposing member, and a calculating unit that corrects the detected temperature obtained by the temperature detecting unit using the temperature as the temperature for correction obtained by the unit for determining a temperature for correction. Thus, stable temperature determination can be performed accurately without being influenced by infrared rays from around a determination object member.

    • A PDA includes a printed-circuit board on which at least one printed antenna pair having two chip-like printed antennas, which receive linearly polarized signals and are disposed along axes orthogonal to each other, is mounted. In each of the printed antennas, an open end is formed of at least two antenna conductors separated from each other. Besides, in the printed-circuit board, a ground required by one or plural other modules is disposed so as to surround a surrounding area of at least three sides of four sides forming a rectangular section in each of the printed antennas, and each of the printed antennas is disposed and mounted so that a remaining one side faces an edge portion of the printed-circuit board. While the PDA can receive circularly polarized signals very effectively, the degree of freedom in layout is greatly expanded and miniaturization can be realized.

    • An image heating device with a small thermal capacity that can be heated rapidly. The image heating device includes a fixing belt (20) having a heat resistance; a rotatable heat-generating roller (21), which is at least partially conductive and arranged in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt (20); a fixing roller (22), the fixing roller and the heat-generating roller (21) movably suspending the fixing belt (20) therebetween; and a magnetization means (24) for heating the heat-generating roller (21) through magnetization, which is arranged outside the heat-generating roller (21). In this image heating device, the magnetization means (24) heats the heat-generating roller (21) through magnetization after a rotating operation of the heat-generating roller (21) is started.

    • A small radio communication unit which requires no antenna adjustment is provided by using small chip antennas whose gain is not degraded and which have a wide bandwidth. The inventive radio communication unit comprises a first chip antenna contained within the unit and having a first frequency characteristic; a first filter connected to the first antenna and having a pass bandwidth for passing a received signal; a receiving circuit connected to an output end of the first antenna; a receiving PLL circuit for outputting a local oscillation signal; a second chip antenna contained within the unit and having a second frequency characteristic; a second filter connected to the second antenna and having a pass bandwidth for passing a transmitted signal; a transmitting circuit connected to an input end of the second filter and comprising a transmitting carrier oscillation and modulating circuit, a transmission amplifier circuit and an isolator; a control circuit for controlling operations of the receiving circuit and the transmitting circuit; and a modulating signal input terminal to which a modulating signal is applied.
