    • A computer automated method and system is used to time transformers to produce a resonant circuit for matching elements to a circuit is disclosed. The modeling method uses a computer to select discrete values for resistive and capacitive loads to be connected to the secondary of a transformer. For each combination of resistive and capacitive load connected to the secondary, the circuit is measured for phase angle. This data is used by the computer software to predict the tuning of the transformer to a load combination that is not actually connected to the transformer. This is done by determining two load lines for actual values of resistance and capacitance connected to the transformer secondary and then interpolating between the two load lines using a logarithmic equation. An option provided to the operator is to specify the value of the load capacitance or not. If the load capacitance is specified, the computer computes the phase angle for that value of load capacitance. If the load capacitance is not specified, the computer computes the value of capacitance with will produce a zero phase angle.

    • An overfire draft system for a waste burner is disclosed. Such system comprises air vents arranged circumferentially around the base of the burner for communicating the interior of the burner to the atmosphere and a draft modulated damper plate located in each air vent for automatically regulating the volume of overfire air delivered to the interior of the burner. Each draft modulated damper plate is provided with a lower lip which is deflected by a predetermined angle with respect to the plate to create an aerodynamic lift effect with large opening moment to assist the damper plate in its response under low air velocity conditions, and an oppositely deflected upper lip with proportionately less bent surface to avoid flutter or hunting of the damper as it approaches the maximum open position and to provide added dynamic opening force. The overfire draft system is also provided with ducts connected to the air vents and oriented so as to direct air tangentially around the base of the burner and toward the lower inside wall of the burner so as to minimize the disturbance of the inside air. The waste burner may also be provided with draft modulated or forced air vents arranged circumferentially at mid-elevation around the burner and duct means connected to such vents and directed at a small angle with the radius of the burner so as to cause turbulence in the flame zone and reduce the vertical velocity of gases above the fire, thus reducing emission of particulate materials. The waste burner may further be provided with a lip portion secured to the upper end thereof and extending toward the center of the burner for trapping the heavy particles entrained by hot gases and concentrated around the outside perimeter of the burner by the centrifugal forces generated by the usual rotational motion of such hot gases.

    • A mechanical face seal includes a pair of relatively rotatable seal rings having opposing seal faces which define a sealing region therebetween. The sealing region extends radially between the inside and outside diameters of the seal rings to seal a fluid in a sealing chamber near one diameter thereof. The seal faces are provided with tapered channel macro/micro features which generate hydrodynamic lift during relative rotation of the seal rings. The tapered channel macro/micro feature shows significant improvement in seal performance when compared to an untextured face. Low contact and hence low wear are attributed to a more distributed hydrodynamic load support function. Likewise, low leakage is believed to be the result of optimized cavitation function, and no debris was discovered in the micro-features at the conclusion of any testing.

    • A method is disclosed for pre-sending content size information so that content objects that might exceed the client device's resources are not sent in subsequent content transmissions. For example, a network node may receive from a content server a content message directed to a client device, wherein the content message includes a plurality of object references, each referencing respectively an object that is not contained in the content message. The network node may determine an object size of at least one of the objects and a supported content size for the client device. Based upon the determined object size and the determined supported content size of the client device, the network node may modify the content message by removing the object reference referencing the at least one object and then send the modified content message to the client device.

    • A chord nailing restricting device features a chord plate combined with a wooden volume structure configured for lateral attachment to the web of a wooden I-joist. The chord plate is positioned on the bottom of the volume structure and features a nail restricting hole having a diameter that corresponds to a predetermined diameter of a chord nail as defined by wooden I-joist manufacturers. The volume structure has a chord nailing access cavity in an surrounding vicinity of the nail restricting hole. Once the device is attached to the web above the bearing rest, the nail restricting hole restricts chord nailing position and nail shaft diameter to manufacturer defined limits. Two devices may be combined by a web front bridge plate for simultaneous attachment of two opposite devices along an I-joist end.
