    • An oxygen adapter for delivering low volume supplemental oxygen to a tracheostomized patient using a conventional tracheostomy speaking valve is provided, the adapter including a tube fitting for receiving conventional tubing thereon, and an outlet section attached to the tube fitting and defining a channel communicating between the tube fitting and an outlet end of the outlet section. The outlet section preferably extends axially from the tube fitting along the outer wall of a speaking valve to which the adapter is connected, the outlet end being located adjacent an inlet of the speaking valve, thereby delivering oxygen from the tubing received on the tube fitting to the inlet of the speaking valve. The adapter may be detachably connectable to the cylindrical wall of the speaking valve, preferably by a pair of semi-rigid gripping flanges adapted to peripherally engage the cylindrical wall of the speaking valve. The adapter preferably comprises injection-molded plastic, such as polycarbonate.

    • A therapeutic device to mobilize the spinal joints and soft tissues surrounding the human spine. The device includes two substantially solid spherical balls mounted on a shaft for independent rotation. In one embodiment, the balls have a spherical to elliptical configuration and comprise an inner ball portion of a variable density synthetic plastic material and with an outer covering or portion comprised of a flexible material. The balls have a confronting area forming a substantially elliptical shape extending from a major spherical ball portion. Another embodiment comprises two spherical rubber balls having an inner ball formed of hard material to assist in the mobilizing operation and an outer flexible rubber cover. In either embodiment, the balls may be mounted on the shaft via suitable sleeves disposed through the inner ball portions. The device may be used in self-treatment or may be applied by another person.

    • An air flow and filtration control system in the form of a headgear which is worn by a physician during a surgical procedure, a technician during an assembly process, or any other user wherein a controlled air flow and air filtration is required or desired. The flow through system includes a relatively rigid, open frame, skeleton headgear structure which substantially surrounds the head of the wearer. The structure includes ductwork and is adjustably attached to a headband formed of straps which are adapted to snugly engage the head of the wearer.A plurality of fans or other air moving devices are mounted in the structure. The fans are positioned to move air through the integral ducts in the structure. A shroud (or hood) is draped over and attached to the structure in such a fashion as to completely cover the structure and to cover at least a portion of the wearer in order to maintain sterile or controlled conditions. A relatively planar transparent screen or "window" is provided at the front of the apparatus for substantially undistorted viewing. Typically, the transparent screen is mounted in the shroud and is removable therewith. Filtration devices are formed or mounted in the shroud so as to be disposed adjacent to the fans when the shroud is placed over the structure. A suitable power supply, such as a battery pack or the like, is used to selectively power the fans. It is anticipated that at least the shroud (and the components mounted thereto) will be disposable.

    • There is disclosed an electrode construction of the type including a terminal arrangement and support structure for said terminal arrangement, said support structure adapted for the transcutaneous application of the electrode to a patient. The support structure may be fabricated from a layer of foam or microporous material, or plural layer employing a combination of both, or from a layer of conductive adhesive. The terminal arrangement may be of single terminal or multi-terminal design, and is provided by a conductive pattern printed on a semi-flexible plastic-like sheet, wherein said pattern is printed with a conductive ink of the type employing a conductive metal, such as silver, in a binder composition. The disclosure also contemplates novel structure for connection of the electrode to a lead wire, as well as several novel, overall designs for the construction of the electrode support means.
