    • [Problem] A plasma display device is provided which is capable of reducing an afterimage (burning) in a short time.[Means to solve the problem] At start time of first afterimage reduction driving mode, the number of times of discharge corresponds to first driving power, then gradually to second driving power and, at its termination time, the number of times of discharge corresponds to the second driving power, then gradually, to the first driving power. At start time of third afterimage reduction driving mode, power to be supplied to each region changes from the first driving power gradually to the fourth driving power and, at its termination time, the driving power changes from the first driving power to the fourth driving power and, at its termination, the driving power changes from the fourth driving power gradually to the first driving power. At start time of second afterimage reduction mode, the number of times of discharge corresponds to the first driving power, then gradually to the third driving power.

    • A display-panel-drive apparatus having a drive unit that drives the display panel and a control unit that outputs control signals for controlling said drive unit to said drive unit, the display-panel-drive apparatus is provided with: a drive board of the drive unit; a control board of the control unit; a transmission line that transmits the control signals from the control board to the drive board by way of a removable connector; a detection device that detects when said connector is disconnected; and a control device that controls said drive unit when the detection device detects that the connector is disconnected; and wherein the detection device detects that said connector is disconnected by detecting when the connection terminals of the connector are disconnected.

    • A digital single-lens reflex camera determines whether a predetermined time has passed since the start of display. If the predetermined time has not passed yet, the camera performs face detection to determine if a user is looking into an optical finder of the camera. When the face detection is performed, a system control circuit identifies the present content displayed. When the displayed content is an ordinary image, photographing information, or attention-seeking alert, display of the content is immediately stopped. When the displayed content is alert prohibiting imaging, it is checked whether a switch operation has been performed. If the switch operation has not been performed at all, or a switch operation for canceling the displayed alert has not been performed, timer counting is cleared before the timer counting is initiated again.
