    • The present invention provides a retractable door apparatus for trailer trucks including at least two tracks of extruded aluminum each having at least one guide surface with a wear resistant coating; and a door in slideable engagement to the guide surfaces of each track. The wear resistant coating may include a self fluxing alloy, oxide, carbide, Al bronze alloy, or cermet having a hardness greater than aluminum. The present invention also provides a method of forming the tracks for the sliding or rolling door apparatus including the steps of providing an aluminum extrusion having at least one guide surface with a geometry for accepting a roller bearing or rollers; and forming the wear resistant coating on the guide surfaces at a temperature that does not substantially reduce the mechanical properties of the aluminum extrusion.

    • Window cover systems include window cover material in the form of pleated panels or slats. The window cover material is suspended from a traverse track and is traversed along the track for opening and closing the window system. Arrangements for maintaining spacing and alignment of pleats or slats are provided. The alignment maintaining arrangements include traverse tapes which are substantially rigid in longitudinal and lateral directions in the plane of the tape, and are flexible in a direction perpendicular to the tape. The arrangements also include attaching the window cover material to vertical edge members and providing foldable spacer-members between adjacent edge-members. In one arrangement, a box-pleated panel of window cover fabric is suspended from a traverse track on slide-members. The slide-members are each attached to a spacer-tape at regular intervals along the spacer-tape. The spacer-tape is substantially rigid in the traverse direction and in a vertical direction perpendicular to the traverse direction. The window cover system is opened and closed by rolling and unrolling the panel and the spacer-tape around a roller located at one end of a window frame. Other arrangements include combined, tape-supported vertical slat blinds and vertical pleated drapes in which the tape(s) are supported by sprockets or wheels/pulleys.

    • A glazed assembly is formed of a frame assembly and a sash assembly that is slideable in the frame assembly. The frame assembly is formed of at least four frame parts that have identical cross-sectional shapes. The sash assembly is formed of at least four sash parts that have identical cross-sectional shapes, and a glazing. The frame parts present engaging elements and guide grooves on the two sides thereof facing and opposite the sash assembly so that multiple glazed assemblies can be formed arranged in building block fashion both vertically and laterally of the one frame assembly. The sash parts also present engaging elements and guide grooves; all of said engaging elements have the same cross-sectional shape as a "T", while all of the guide grooves have identical cross-sectional shapes; and the guide grooves and engaging elements are intermating so that a glazed assembly may be formed of the fewest number of differently shaped parts.

    • The present invention contemplates a closure having primary utility for creating a snug fit between a hangar door and the tail section of an aircraft which projects through the door. In one embodiment, the invention includes carrier support means which are fixed to the hangar door on two opposing sections thereof. Secured to the carrier support means on each side of the opening in the hangar door are aperture carriers, each of which is mounted for movement on the support means toward and away from the other aperture carrier. A slot is formed in the abutting edges of each of the carriers so that when the carriers are adjacent each other, a continuous opening of generally circular cross-sectional configuration is created. Sliding vertically along support means mounted on each of the aperture carriers is an aperture frame which has a semicircular cutout formed thereon to register with the slot formed in the aperture carriers. As in the case of the aperture carriers, the semicircular cutouts formed in the aperture frames are so situated in each of the frames that when the frames abut a circular opening through the planes thereof is formed. Motive means are provided for moving the aperture frames vertically upward and downward with respect to the aperture carriers while similar motive means are provided for moving the aperture carriers toward and away from each other.
