    • The present invention concerns a high vacuum in-situ refining method for high-purity and superhigh-purity materials and the apparatus thereof, characterized in heating the upper part and lower part of crucible separately using double-heating-wires diffusion furnace under vacuum, thereby forming the temperature profile which is high at upper part and low at lower part of crucible, or in reverse during different stages; then heating the crucible in two steps to remove impurities with high saturation vapor pressure and low saturation vapor pressure respectively in efficiency; and obtaining high-purity materials eventually. The whole procedure is isolated from atmosphere, reducing contamination upon stuff remarkably. The present invention could provide products with high-quality and high production capacity, which are stable in performance, therefore is reliable and free from contamination. The present invention is appropriate for manufacture of high-purity and superhigh-purity materials, particularly for manufacture of high-activity high-purity materials.

    • Disclosed is a process for the production of sodium carbonate monohydrate crystals from uncalcined trona ore. The process include contacting trona ore with a saturated sodium carbonate solution at a temperature of at least about 117.degree. C. to form a brine solution comprising anhydrous sodium carbonate crystals. The temperature of the brine solution is reduced to form sodium carbonate monohydrate crystals and the crystals are separated from the brine solution. The process can include maintaining the concentration of bicarbonate in the brine solution at a low level to promote the formation of only anhydrous sodium carbonate at temperatures above about 117.degree. C. and to promote the formation of sodium carbonate monohydrate at temperatures below about 109.degree. C.

    • An apparatus for distribution of magnesium or magnesium alloys from a central melting unit (2) into a casting shop with one or more casting machines (3) has a tube furnace (1) extending from a central melting unit (2) into the casting shop. The tube furnace (1) is equipped with outlets (6) at the top for the mounting of a transfer tube (7) for the supply of metal to one or more holding furnaces (4) arranged at each casting machine. The tube furnace is preferably placed inside a steel cover (8) and is positioned just beneath the metal level in the holding furnace (4). The tube furnace (1) and transfer tubes (7) are provided with heating elements (11) with an outer insulation (12). The transfer tubes (7) have an air inlet (9). Two or more tube furnaces could be placed in the steel cover (8). The metal is transferred by the act of gravity.
