    • A rear suspension bicycle having a rear wheel with an axle, a frame including a seat tube and a down tube having a top and bottom ends, a pair of drop link members, one for either side of the rear wheel, each having a top attachment point and a bottom attachment point, and an axle attachment point for receiving the axle. A seat stay assembly including a front end and a rear end, and having a front pivot point adjacent the front end for pivotal attachment to the down tube defining a first pivot point, and a pair of rear pivot points, each for pivotal attachment to the top attachment point of one of said drop link members, forming together the second pivot point. A chain stay assembly having a front end and a rear end, and defining a front pivot point at the front end, and a pair of rear pivot points at the rear end, the front pivot point for pivotal attachment adjacent to the bottom end of the seat tube forming the third pivot point, and a pair of rear pivot points, each for pivotal attachment to the bottom attachment point of one of the drop link members, forming together the fourth pivot point. A shock-absorbing element is mounted between the seat stay assembly and the frame. When the rear wheel is moved upwardly with respect to the frame, the axle traces a complex curvilinear axle path generally upwardly, moving first rearwardly to a rearwardmost position, then forwardly along the upward axle path. The rear suspension transmits the pedal force generated by the rider efficiently into forward moving force without compressing the suspension appreciably.

    • A new Method of Molding and Assembling a Bicycle Frame for offering a lighter, less expensive bicycle frame. The inventive device includes a frame assembly having a first half, a second half, and a front fork joint. In use, referring to FIG. 6, the first half 11 and the second half 13 are molded side by side. Then, after trimming, the first half 11 and the second half 13 are matingly joined together. The axle clamp housing 31 is then fixed to the drive wheel joint 30, and the pedal busing 22, the seat support bushing 42, and the front fork bushing 52 are installed, completing the frame assembly 12. A typical bicycle handle bar, pedals, drive wheel, front steer wheel, and seat are then assembled to the frame assembly 12, completing an overall assembly of the bicycle.

    • A straight bifurcated rigid bicycle fork is bent to produce a forward curve in the furcations or arms of the rigid fork. The curve has a bending radius of substantially six inches, and the angle between the arms and the main body of the rigid fork is less than a right angle. Typically, the angle of bend is on the order of substantially seventy-five degrees. When mounted on a bicycle, the curved rigid fork causes the front wheel to extend forward in front of the bicycle, and gives the bicycle a longer, lower look, thereby emulating what is known as a "low rider." When a helical spring and struts are added to the rigid curved fork, it emulates a spring-action low rider fork.

    • A quick release mechanism for securing a part to the frame of a bicycle. The mechanism includes an axially elongated skewer element adapted to be mounted to the frame. A fastening element is rotatably mounted on the skewer element for securing the part to the frame upon relative rotation of the skewer and fastening elements in a first direction and for releasing the part upon relative rotation of the skewer and fastening elements in a second direction. Ratchet means is attached to one of the elements for turning that element to selectively effect relative rotation of the two elements in the first and second directions. Hardened lock washers are embedded in the confronting faces of the fastening element and a washer mounted on the skewer.
