    • An improved vehicle box assembly with an upright front or side panel defined by a monolithic one-piece roll-formed steel sheet member having a desired three-dimensional configuration. The sheet steel member is roll-formed in the lengthwise direction thereof. The panel has a channel, preferably a closed tubular channel on the front panel, roll-formed along one edge of the sheet steel during forming of the panel. The closed tubular edge rail is preferably closed by a seam weld which extends lengthwise therealong and is performed in line with the roll-forming operation. The roll-formed panel is preferably provided with a flat shelf deformed horizontally to extend lengthwise along the panel downwardly from the top rail.

    • A tailgate step has at least one step held in a working position between tailgate level and ground level by one or more supports. Each support is attached at its upper end to a hinge. Each hinge is attached to or integral with an end of a support channel embedded in the upper surface of a lowered tailgate. Each support member channel is normal to and communicates with a step channel embedded at or near the bottom edge of the tailgate. The step and supports are sized and configured to pivot on the hinges and be stored within the corresponding channels, so that the upper surface of the tailgate is flat when the tailgate step is stored. The channels may be formed into or affixed to the tailgate by methods that prevent the entry of contaminants into the interior of the tailgate.

    • An adjustable body sub-frame assembly that mounts on a truck chassis, and an adjustable body panel assembly that mounts on the body sub-frame assembly. The body sub-frame assembly includes left and right sub-frame rails that mount on respective truck chassis rails. Each sub-frame rail includes sub-frame brace tubes and body support brackets. The sub-frame brace tubes are fixed to the sub-frame rails extending laterally inward from the truck chassis rails, and the body support brackets are fixed to the sub-frame rails extending laterally outward from the truck chassis rails. The body subframe assembly further includes sub-frame brace sleeves that receive corresponding sub-frame brace tubes of the sub-frame rails. The sub-frame brace tubes can be welded at different positions within the sub-frame brace sleeves providing for adjustability in the width of the body sub-frame assembly. The body panel assembly includes left and right body panels. Each body panel includes mounting brackets fixed thereto extending laterally inward. Each mounting bracket of each body panel aligns with a corresponding body support bracket of the corresponding sub-frame rail. Each body panel mounts on the support brackets of the corresponding sub-frame rail in a plurality of lateral positions providing for adjustability in the width of the body panel assembly. The body panel assembly further includes length spacer panels cut to size to provide for adjustability in the length of the body panel assembly.

    • A trailer 10 has a frame 12 with cross members (20). A bottom rail (62) is secured to the frame 12. A top rail (130) is supported by the frame. A plurality of extruded panels (70) are attached to the bottom rail 62 and the top rail (130) to form side walls (22 and 24) and a front wall (26). Each panel (7) is a hollow member with an outside wall 72, and inside wall (74), a first end wall 76 and a second end wall (78). A first outside flange (80) and a first inside flange (82) are integral with the first end wall (76). A second outside flange (90) and a second inside flange (92) are integral with the second end wall (78). When plural panels (70) are connected together to form a trailer wall (22, 24, or 26) first inside flanges (82) are between second inside and outside flanges (90, 92) and second inside flanges (92) are between first inside and outside flanges (80, 82). A passage (99) is formed between adjacent first and second inside flanges (82 and 92) and end walls (76 and 78). The panels (70) form smooth continuous surfaces on the inside and outside trailer walls (22, 24 and 26).
