    • The present invention relates to an electrical connector with an electrically insulating contact carrier and with at least one electrically conducting contact element which is held in the contact carrier. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a manufacturing method for manufacturing a connector of this type. Changes in dimension in the geometry of the contact carrier and also fluctuations in spacing and geometry in the enclosing shielding cause impedance inhomogeneities in the signal propagation direction that adversely influence the signal quality. Furthermore, it may be necessary to purposefully set the impedance so as to differ from the nominal impedance. An electrical connector is therefore proposed with an electrically insulating contact carrier (102) and with at least one electrically conducting contact element (104) which is held in the contact carrier (102), wherein at least one impedance correction element (112, 116) is arranged in the contact carrier (102) for setting the impedance of the connector (100) in the region in which the at least one contact element (104) is arranged.

    • A modular plug and multi-pair cable assembly provides reduced near-end crosstalk between two signal pairs of the cable. A modular plug has a plurality of wire-receiving passages disposed in first and second planar arrays spaced one above the other, with the passages of one planar array being staggered in position with respect to the passages of the other planar array. An end of a first wire of each of two signal pairs is received in respective wire-receiving passages of the first planar array and an end of a second wire of the two signal pairs is received in respective wire-receiving passages of the second planar array. A first pair plane in which the wire ends of the first signal pair are situated intersects a second pair plane in which the wire ends of the second signal pair are situated. In this manner crosstalk between the two signal pairs resulting from magnetic and electric field coupling is reduced.

    • A matched impedance printed circuit board connector comprising a housing mounted on a mounting board having a ground plane and signal traces separated by an insulator. A grounding bus extends lengthwise in the housing below the printed circuit board receiving slot therein. Signal contacts in the housing are mounted in plated through holes in the mounting board which are connected to the signal traces. The grounding bus has mounting portions which are mounted in other plated through holes in the board which are joined to the ground plane. Ground contacts are also provided in the housing which are mounted in additional plated through holes which are also joined to the ground plane so that the ground contacts and grounding bus are electrically interconnected. Preferably two such ground contacts are positioned on opposite sides of the signal contacts.
