    • A system for performing target acquisition and tracking under the control a human operator. The system has a slewable sensor with a line of sight and includes apparatus for slewing the sensor to align its line of sight with a target, the difference between the position of the target and the line of sight being a line of sight error. A display displays the line of sight error to the operator at either a first or a second magnification, selectable by the operator. The operator uses a control manipulator to generate input signals and supply them to the rest of the system. Circuitry is provided for automatically switching from proportional to proportional-plus-integral control upon changing from the first to the second magnification. Circuitry is also provided for initializing an integrator prior to the switchover from the first to the second magnification to eliminate control transients in the concomitant switchover from proportional to proportional-plus-integral control.

    • A control system for a cyclic process includes a pulse generator incorporating three rotatable gears for generating pulses. A first gear having n ferromagnetic teeth is mounted on a main generator shaft for generating a train of pulses in a magnetic perception head upon rotation of the main generator shaft, and also mounted on the main generator shaft is a second gear wheel having n + 1 teeth. The second gear wheel drivingly engages with a third gear wheel having n teeth which is mounted for rotation on another shaft, and the second and third gear wheels each carry a ferromagnetic element movement of which past respective further magnetic perception heads causes the generation of a single pulse during each rotation of the second and third gear wheels. The train of pulses is used for driving a counter to control the sequential operations of the cyclic process, and a coincidence between the pulses generated by the second and third gear wheels is used to reset the counter and initiate a succeeding cycle of the process.

    • A process controller for controlling the operation of a particular process including an external control loop for combining an output signal from the process indicative of the operation thereof with a preselected reference signal and producing an output signal indicative of this combination. This output signal is then fed to an operational amplifier across a first two position switch which in the other position thereof open loops the input to the amplifier, connecting in an external signal source. The operational amplifier is arranged in a configuration of an integrator, including two capacitive feedback loops forming the internal loop of the controller, each feedback loop being respectively connected to the two switch positions. The capacitors in each feedback loop will therefore maintain identical initial outputs on either side of the switch, since in both instances they are referenced to a common reference, thus assuring transient-free switch over. At the output the operational amplifier is connected to control the process across a second two position switch, which, in its other position, connects the process directly to an externally powered manually controlled signal source, thus providing an alternate means for maintaining control over the process in case of power failure.

    • A bumpless transfer process control having three states of operation, namely a digital control state, an analog control state and a manual control state. The control includes an operational amplifier which produces an analog control signal of the process and includes a first and a second feedback capacitor. A switch operates so that the first capacitor is used as storage for the first and third states of operation and the second capacitor is used as an integrator in the second state. In each state of operation the unused capacitor constantly receives a voltage which charges it to a vlaue which enables it to be used abruptly at any time without producing a surge in the amplifier output signal.

    • An altitude control system operating on a rate command principle employs an uncorrected primary altitude sensor in a servo loop which, in the absence of command operation, synchronizes the positioning of the sensor zero adjust mechanism with the experienced aircraft altitude rate. Rate command modes establish rate command inputs to the sensor servo loop while removing the synchronizing mode position feedback and initiate aircraft vertical control in response to sensor output signal. A corrected sensor may be employed to formulate altitude capture rate command inputs such that the system enjoys the reference accuracy of the corrected sensor and the rate sensitivity of the uncorrected sensor.
