    • A clock "friction" for use in clocks having plastic gear wheels which permits manual setting of the hands but in which a reliable level of frictional torque is obtained without requiring use of any auxiliary parts. The centerwheel of the clock has an interference fit with respect to the center, or minute hand, shaft upon which it is telescoped, and the minute hand shaft is formed with an annular groove lying generally in the plane of the centerwheel into which the plastic relaxes and flows for maintaining the centerwheel in a desired axial position. The minute hand shaft has a setting knob, and means are provided for precluding axial shifting of the center shaft, by pushing or pulling, which might result in stripping of the plastic in the groove.

    • An indicia display unit comprises an inner wheel bearing a number of indicia, the number being represented by an integer X, and an outer wheel bearing a number of indicia equal to nX where n is an integer. The outer wheel is also formed with a display window. The inner wheel is nestingly fitted within the outer wheel, and its indicia position is aligned with an indicia position on the outer wheel. The inner wheel is adapted to be driven for one cycle which includes (n + 1) revolutions. During the initial n revolutions of the inner wheel, the outer wheel is concurrently driven for rotation therewith to present successive indicias thereon for display. On the (n + 1)-th revolution of the inner wheel, the window in the outer wheel is interrupted to permit the display of successive indicia on the inner wheel by allowing the rotation of the latter alone.

    • Apparatus for making time adjustments or corrections in a digital clock having a plurality of time-indicating driven elements, one of which indicates the least time unit in the clock, for example, seconds. A pawl lever having a pawl for engaging a stop on the driven seconds wheel for indicating the least time units is manually actuated to stop this seconds wheel after a correct time has been set in the hours, tens of minutes and minutes time-indicating wheels. Upon release of the seconds wheel, the time is correctly and accurately set in the clock including correct time as to the least time unit. The seconds wheel is stopped by engaging it and using its force of rotation to disengage an input drive element therefrom or to open a switch disenabling a drive motor. The pawl lever is released at the time of a time signal. The seconds wheel is releasably held at a given position of rotation thereof corresponding to a given time indication when making the time correction or setting.
