摘要： A bi-directionally vertically bin indexed multi-bin sheet sorter, for a fixed position sheet output, such as a copier or printer, with a sheet edge alignment registration jogging system for tamping sheets which are in the immediately previously loaded bins directly above or below the bin being loaded (the bin adjacent the fixed sheet output) concurrently with that bin being loaded but without interfering with the feeding of the sheet into that bin. A single jogging system is stationarily mounted adjacent the sheet output to intermittently horizontally move a jogging member (which extends vertically alongside all three of these adjacent sorter bins) into the above and below bins for tamping sheets therein towards a registration position, such as a corner stapling position, but is configured to not extend into the sheet feeding path and to not tamp sheets in the bin being loaded. It may be a thin, lightweight, flexible, flag-shaped member with two active tamping surface portions separated by a central missing portion in the area of the bin being loaded.

摘要： A sheet handling apparatus to perform predetermined processes for a recorded sheet comprises: a processor to process a sheet which is output from a sheet output unit; a sensor to detect a carrier speed of the sheet; and a controller to perform predetermined processes on the basis of the sheet carrier speed detected by the sensor and sheet carrier speed data transmitted from the sheet output unit. The processor has a carrier to carry the sheet output from the sheet output unit and then stores the sheet carried by the carrier into storage units. The controller compares the sheet carrier speed detected by the sensor with the sheet carrier sheed data transmitted from the sheet output unit and outputs a warning signal to display the result of the comparison when the former speed is deviated from the latter speed by a value above a predetermined value. In this manner, the abnormality of the sheet carrier speed is correctly detected and the occurrence of the abnormality of the carrying operation of the sheet such as sheet jam or stay jam can be prevented.

The bunches of the sheets in the bins are transported to the binding unit through the sheet receiving opening for binding. The angle of inclination of each bin at the position opposite to said sheet receiving opening is set larger than that of the bin at the position for the distribution of the sheets. In order to shift each bin from the position for the distribution of the sheets to the position where the sheet receiving opening is located, for example, a cam with a spiral groove designed to engage with a trunnion provided to each of the bins is used.
