    • A resonator, a filter, a duplexer, and a multiplexer are disclosed. In an embodiment a resonator includes a resonant cavity casing having a resonant cavity and an open end, a cover covering the open end and being connected to the resonant cavity casing and a resonance tube located inside the resonant cavity. The resonator further includes a tuning rod disposed inside the resonance tube and a dielectric material located in the resonant cavity, wherein the dielectric material is located in a capacitance area formed between a top of the resonance tube and the cover, wherein the tuning rod is rotatable relative to the dielectric material, and wherein surfaces of the tuning rod and the dielectric material face each other and comprise non-circular structures so that an overlapping of the surfaces is changeable to adjust a frequency when the tuning rod is rotated relative to the dielectric material.

    • A duplex filter includes a block of dielectric material with top, bottom, and side surfaces and first and second spaced-apart sets of through-holes. A pair of outside walls and a center wall extend outwardly from the top surface. A pattern of metallized areas is defined on the top surface of the block including first and second electrodes that extend on the pair of outside walls respectively and third and fourth electrode antennae that extend on the center wall. The block may be two separate blocks coupled together to form an interior layer of metallization separating the first and second sets of through-holes and the center wall separates respective transmit and receive portions of the pattern of metallized areas.

    • An improved microwave cavity filter used in cellular communication systems such as base stations is disclosed. The cavity filter has a conductive housing forming a cavity therein and a hollow conductive resonator configured in the cavity with a folded hat shaped upper portion. A tuning screw extends from the top cover of the housing into the top folded hat portion of the hollow resonator to fine tune the resonator. The resonator also may preferably include two different diameter sections providing a first high impedance section with smaller diameter and a second lower impedance section with a larger diameter configured at an upper end of the resonator. This configuration provides a significantly smaller cavity height for a given power handling capability. The resonator is preferably of constant thickness allowing low cost stamping or other forming techniques to be used in forming the resonator.
