摘要： An astragal boot provides a substantially weatherproof seal at a lower end of a vertically elongated astragal installed on the free side edge or stile of a semi-active door in a double door entry set or the like. The astragal boot includes at least one and preferably multiple compliant fins for engaging an underlying threshold, when the semi-active door is in a closed position, to provide an effective barrier against penetration of wind and water. In the preferred form, the astragal boot further supports and retains adjacent ends of complaint weatherstripping mounted on the astragal and/or the bottom edge of the door. The astragal boot may be provided in a non-handed configuration for reversible mounting on a left-hand or right-hand installed semi-active door.

摘要： An interlocking door seam provides a stronger seam for double doors, making them less subject to attack by prybars and the like. Particularly for central mail stations (CMS) and central box units CBU, double doors present there are subject to attack by prybars and the like that force the locks and allow thieves to rifle the contents of the enclosed mail boxes. Attachment of interlocking door seam to the first edge of the first double doors protects that first edge from prybar attacks. The adjoining edge of the second double door then releasably fits into a convex strip that protects the adjoining edge of the second double door, thereby protecting it from prybar attack. The interlocking door seam allows normal operation of the double doors while decreasing the risk to the central mail station of prybar attack at the seam between the double doors. Flanges present along the free edge of the convex strip provide easy engagement of that free edge. Gaps between such flanges accommodate shelving inside the central mail station. Construction of the interlocking door seam by tempered steel or hard and durable materials provides enhanced protection from prybar attack. Additionally, a main access door bolt bracket may serve to better secure and close the double doors, thwarting forced entry therethrough. The individual mailbox slot doors may have hooked cams to provide fail-safe closure.

摘要： An improved astragal assembly for use with a double door installation includes an astragal strip secured along the vertical edge of the inactive door. A lock block is slidably disposed in at least one end of said astragal strip and can be moved between an extended position for securing the door and a retracted position for freeing the door. The lock block has a projecting bolt receivable in a receptacle in the door frame when the lock block is slid to its extended position. A gasket is secured to the end of the lock block and the bolt passes through an opening in the gasket. The gasket engages and seals against the door frame when the lock block is in its extended position. Gaskets are also provided on the sides of the lock block for engaging and sealing against the doors of the double door installation. When the doors are closed and secured in place, the lock block and gasket assembly prevents drafts from flowing under the door installation beneath the astragal thereof.

The embodiment illustrated and described in the specification includes a plate which overlies the free edge of one door. The vertical central section of that plate is recessed for the full height of the door and latching apparatus including an upper and lower bolt, means to bias those bolts upward and downwardly respectively, and means for retracting the bolts are all disposed within the recess. The upper bolt is adapted to cooperate with a catch in the door frame above the door and the lower bolt is adapted to cooperate with a catch opening in the threshold.

摘要： An astragal for a fenestration system includes at least first and second slots running along opposite sides of the astragal, each slot is configured to receive a stile of a panel of the fenestration system. The slots may be in different planes or in a common plane, and may be different depths or the same depth. In some embodiments, additional slots are provided in the astragal, on one or both sides of the astragal, and the astragal may be used in various placements and configurations within multi-panel door or window systems. A snap clip may be included within one or more of the slots to engage a stile when received in the slot and secure the panel to the astragal. Covers may fill slots that are not utilized in a particular panel configuration.

The bolt assembly has a base to be fixedly mounted relative to the passive door panel, a catch attached to the base with a leaf spring to deflect relative to the base, and a bolt which is able to translate relative to the base between a retracted position and an extended position for securing the passive door panel. The bolt is biased toward the extended position and selectively maintained in the retracted position by the catch.
