    • A control arrangement is provided for a power window in a vehicle. The control arrangement includes a window regulator mechanism configured to move a window between fully-open and fully-closed positions, and a switch having a input member that is translatable by an occupant in the vehicle between respective end positions. The switch is arranged to produce a signal indicative of the relative position of the translatable input member. A controller is coupled to the switch and the window regulator mechanism, and is configured to control operation of the window regulator mechanism in response to the switch signal such that window is moved to a position correlated to the relative position of the translatable input member.

    • A power window control apparatus for controlling vehicle power windows (12-18) includes window control switches (52-58) for controlling power window control motors (20-26). When two window control switches (52-58) are simultaneously and momentarily actuated downward, a controller (40) controls the motors (20-26) to lower the windows (12-18) to a predetermined position from an initially closed position. In the event that one or more windows are initially open, the controller (40) lowers the windows for the time interval that the two window control switches are actuated downward. When the two window control switches (52-58) are moved in the upward direction, the controller (40) simultaneously controls all the motors (20-26) to raise all open windows (12-18) to a fully closed position.

    • An improved window operator has an electrically controlled drive for moving a window between opened and closed positions in response to a command. A plurality of switches are provided for manually or remotely commanding movement of the drive to move the window to a select desired position between the opened and closed positions. A position sensing routine senses actual position of the window between the open and closed positions. The position sensing routine includes a timer for storing a value representing actual position. The value is selectively incremented or decremented at a select rate in response to duration of operation of the drive to move the window between the open and closed positions. The control senses electrical power supplied to the drive. An adjustment routine adjusts the select rate of the timer in response to electric power deviating from a select desired power level. The control compare the desired position to actual position and controls an output coupled to the drive for developing an electrical signal to control the drive in response to a difference between the select and actual positions to minimize the difference.

    • A window operating system includes a motor control circuit for controlling the operation of direct current permanent magnet motors mounted on window operators associated with each window. Each of the motors on each of the windows is connected to the control circuit only by a pair of wires which both power the motor and provide information to the control circuit as to the status of motor operation. The status of motor operation is determined by monitoring the back electromagnetic force expressed by the motors. To help differentiate back electromagnetic force from supply voltage supplied to the motors, the motors are supplied with full rectified alternating current power, rather than simple direct current, so that the presence or absence of zero voltage between half waves of the voltage expressed across the motors can be monitored to determine the absence or presence of back electromotive force during those time periods. A reversible connector is used to connect the motor to the control circuit so that the polarity of motor operation can be reversed by reversal of the connector relative to its mating receptacle.

    • The disclosure pertains generally to curtain-raising and lowering mechanisms and, more particularly, to automaticallyoperated mechanisms used in connection with cable or rope suspension systems for controlling curtains on animal enclosures, such as cattle sheds, hog parlors and poultry houses, for example. When temperatures within the enclosure are sufficiently high, the curtain is automatically moved to an open position to facilitate appropriate ventilation. When outside temperatures are low, the curtain is normally closed to conserve heat, but is opened automatically when the interior humidity reaches dangerously high levels. Additional controls are provided whereby heavy rainfall or high winds will cause the curtains to close partially to minimize the effects thereof on the interior environment. Similarly, an interior ammonia detector causes the curtain to open partially when ammonia levels become dangerously high.
