摘要： A process includes the steps of: casting or coating a polyamic acid organic solvent solution on a support and drying the polyamic acid organic solvent solution thereon, so as to form a partially cured and/or partially dried polyamic acid film; dipping the polyamic acid film in tertiary amine or a solution of tertiary amine, or coating tertiary amine or a solution of tertiary amine on the polyamic acid film; and drying the film while imidizing the polyamic acid. In another process, a chemical converting agent and a catalyst are mixed in an organic solvent solution of polyamic acid. After casting and heating the mixture on a support, a partially cured and/or partially dried polyamic acid film is detached from the support. The film contains, with respect to the remaining volatile component, not less than 50 parts of catalyst, not more than 30 parts of solvent, and not more than 20 parts of chemical converting agent and/or a chemical converting agent derived component. The remaining amic acid is imidized and the film is dried.

The method of the invention comprises the steps of: (a) providing a contact lens constructed of a silicone hydrogel; (b) applying a color coat to at least a portion of a surface of the lens with an ink, wherein the ink comprises at least one colorant, a silicone-containing binder polymer, one or more vinylic monomers, and optionally a diluent, wherein the silicone-containing binder polymer is a copolymerization product of a polymerizable mixture including (i) at least one hydrophilic vinylic monomer; (ii) at least one functionalizing vinylic monomer; (iii) at least one silicone-containing vinylic monomer or macromer; (c) curing the ink in the presence of an adhesion promoter, thereby causing the color coat to adhere to the lens.

The resulting articles have a very good balance of properties and significant ESCR.

摘要： Co-cured urethane and vinyl ester, epoxy, or unsaturated polyester gel coats having improved toughness and flexibility compared with conventional polyester gel coats are disclosed. The gel coats, which have 10-50 wt. % urethane content, adhere well to structural layers and can be used in a traditional in-mold process. Co-cured elastomeric coatings comprising from 50 to 95 wt. % of a urethane component and an unsaturated polyester, epoxy, or vinyl ester are also disclosed. Unlike conventional urethane coatings, the elastomeric coatings adhere well to structural layers and can be used in a traditional in-mold process. Castings or structural layers comprising a reinforced thermoset of co-cured urethane and vinyl ester, epoxy, or unsaturated polyester components, including 10-95 wt. % of the urethane component, are also described. The invention includes in-mold processes for making laminates that utilize the gel coats, elastomeric coatings, and/or structural layers. The in-mold process gives flexible, durable, urethane-containing laminates having good interlayer adhesion.
