摘要： One aspect of the present invention relates to an absorbent composite suitable for use in a disposable absorbent garment. The absorbent composite includes means for containing a superabsorbent material and a superabsorbent material contained by said containment means. The superabsorbent material has a Pressure Absorbency Index of at least 100 and a 16-hour extractable level of less than about 13 weight percent; a Pressure Absorbency Index of at least 100 and a Vortex Time of less than about 45 seconds; or a Pressure Absorbency Index of at least about 110. The superabsorbent material is present in said containment means in an amount of from about 30 to about 100 weight percent based on total weight of the containment means and the superabsorbent material. In a second aspect, the present invention relates to a disposable absorbent garment including an outer cover, a body-side liner, and an absorbent composite such as that described above.

摘要： A highly flexible absorbent material useful in sanitary napkins, diapers and the like is obtained by preparing an absorbent board which includes integral reinforcing fibers, and partially shearing the board into a plurality of narrow strips without substantially cutting or breaking the reinforcing fibers. The resulting material is extremely flexible in the tranverse direction and maintains its integrity due to the presence of the reinforcing fibers which interconnect adjacent strips. The absorbent material is preferably composed of a mixture of peat moss and synthetic reinforcing fibers.

摘要： A napkin pad liner is provided which is designed to be used with a conventional sanitary napkin to provide more rapid fluid take-up and reduced fluid strikeback. The liner includes a cover of a non-wettable, fluid permeable hydrophobic material which covers a thin layer of absorbent fabric. Pressure sensitive adhesive is located on the napkin-facing side of the absorbent fabric. The adhesive is protected prior to use of the liner by a release strip. In a preferred embodiment the liner is embossed with a central channel to promote rapid longitudinal fluid distribution at the time of fluid take-up.

The particles are immobilized at said interface(s) substantially entirely by fiber entrapment.

摘要： A disposable multi-layer diaper of high absorptive capacity is provided which comprises as a first layer, a porous facing web to be brought into contact with an infant's skin. A second layer, in juxtaposition to the facing layer, is a highly porous, loosely compacted cellulosic batt having greater wettability than that of the facing web. The batt is slightly narrower than the facing layer to provide exposed side portions of the facing layer outwardly of the side edges of the batt. A third layer, integral with the second, is a continuous, paper-like, densified, higly compacted layer of the same cellulosic material as the second layer but of substantially smaller average pore size. The third layer is thickened in selected areas to provide an increased volumetric flow capacity for rapidly drawing fluid away from an initially wetted area and directing it to areas of the densified layer remote from the wetted area. The thickened areas may be coherent and unitary, or may include substantially fiber-free voids surrounded by fibrous strata. The final layer is an impervious backing sheet that is substantially coextensive with the facing layer, and which is adhered to the densified layer over a widely distributed area of adhesion and to the side portions of the facing layer beyond the edges of the batt. Opposite sides of the diaper are folded inwardly about first fold lines inwardly of the side edges of the batt, and the folded side portions are folded outwardly about second fold lines outwardly of said first fold lines, but inwardly of the side edges of the batt, to thereby provide thickened zones at opposite sides of the batt that include three thicknesses of batt material.
