    • The invention provides a novel electroconductive rubbery member which is a shaped body of a conductive rubbery elastomer impregnated with a powdery conductive particulate material such as carbon black or a metal powder dispersed in an insulating rubber, in which a multiplicity of conductive fibrous bodies such as carbon fibers or very thin metal wires are embedded in such oriented dispersion that each of the fibrous bodies lies along a line which intersects the surface of the shaped body and at least a part of the fibrous bodies are protruded out of the surface of the shaped body. By virtue of the protruded fibrous bodies, very reliable electric conduction is obtained between the conductive rubbery member and the metal electrode in contact therewith. Further advantages are obtained by providing an insulating coating film of, preferably, an adhesive on the contacting surface of the conductive rubbery member penetrated by the protruded conductive fibrous bodies. The inventive conductive rubbery members are also useful as the conductive parts of an elastic connector having an alternately stratified structure of conductive rubbery strata and insulating rubbery strata.

    • The electric connector of the invention is of the so-called stratification type formed of an alternate stratification of layers of electrically conductive and insulating rubbers surrounded by zebra-like striped lateral surfaces and having a rectangular cross section in the same manner as in the conventional stratification type connectors. Different from conventional ones, the inventive connector is provided with a plurality of whisker-like projections of electroconductive linear bodies, e.g. carbon fibers or metal wires, which are the end portions of the linear bodies dispersed and embedded in the layers of the conductive rubber in alignment in a direction, on at least one of the striped lateral surfaces in the areas corresponding to the peripheral surfaces of the conductive layers. By virtue of the whisker-like projections, the inventive connector is readily combined with one or more of other connectors of similar type by merely putting them together side by side to establish very reliable electric connection between them because the end portions of the whisker-like projections of the inventive connector run into the conductive layers of the other connector in contact with the former.

    • A tubular jacket heater having a C-wise radial cross section with an aperture extending in a parallel direction to the axis is proposed which is used to envelop and preheat a tubular lamp used, for example, in a electrophotographic copying machine. The heater is composed of an inner layer made of an electrically insulating rubbery elastomer, an outer layer also made of an electrically insulating rubbery elastomer and a flexible heater element sandwiched by and entending between the inner and the outer insulating layers.
