    • A body fat measurement device, including: a plurality of electrodes which contact a body surface of the subject; a current application unit which passes a current between a pair of electrodes of the plurality of electrodes; a first measurement unit which measures a voltage between another pair of electrodes, while current is passed between the pair of electrodes; a calculation unit which calculates an abdominal impedance of the subject on the basis of the voltage measured by the first measurement unit and calculates an amount of body fat of the subject; a second measurement unit which outputs a signal indicating a parameter other than the abdominal impedance; a cable in which a first core wire which connects between at least one of the current application unit and the pair of electrodes, and the first measurement unit and the other pair of electrodes, and a second core wire which connects the second measurement unit and the calculation unit are provided inside a same insulating coating; and an isolating unit which can shut off a connection between the second core wire and the calculation unit; wherein the calculation unit calculates the abdominal impedance on the basis of the voltage measured by the first measurement unit while a connection between the second core wire and the calculation unit is shut off, during measurement of the abdominal impedance.

    • An image processing apparatus can obtain a copy image having excellent reproducibility with a relatively simple structure of a processing unit that processes image data. The image processing apparatus generates image formation data by processing image data. A gradation processing unit binarizes the image data according to an error diffusion process so as to convert the image data into binary image data. A character/line drawing detection unit determines whether a part of the binary image data corresponds to a character/line drawing portion that consists of characters or line drawings so as to detect the character/line drawing portion. An image processing unit applies an image processing to the part of the binary image data by using an image processing method according to a result of determination of the character/line drawing detection unit.

    • A circuit for providing a constant coloring current to a plurality of segment electrodes of an electrochromic display comprises a plurality of switching elements, say, transistors respectively connected to the segment electrodes for enabling the application of the constant coloring current to the segment electrodes, and an element for changing switching timings of the switching elements. A desirable amount of charge derived from the constant coloring current is applied to the segment electrodes regardless of the presence of the variations in electrical properties of the respective switching elements. In another form of the present invention, the changing element comprises a generator for generating a constant voltage, and a modifier for modifying a value of the constant voltage. In a further form of the present invention, the sizes of the respective switching elements, say, MOS transistors can be changed so that the factor W/L (W: the width of a channel of one of the MOS transistors, and L: the length of the channel) is selected so as to be proportional to the dimensions of the corresponding segment electrodes.
