    • A carrier tape capable of being formed by means of a die apparatus readily manufactured and exhibiting increased durability. The carrier tape is formed thereon with a plurality of receiving recesses for respectively receiving semiconductor packages therein in a manner to be spaced from each other at predetermined intervals in a longitudinal direction thereof. The receiving recesses are each provided at four corners thereof with shelf sections in a manner to be expanded outwardly from an opening of the receiving recess in a plane direction, so that the shelf sections may have an increased area. The shelf sections act to support a periphery of a bottom surface of the semiconductor package thereon. The receiving recess is also provided with positioning sections for positioning the semiconductor package in the plane direction while keeping sides of the semiconductor package in contact therewith. The positioning sections are respectively arranged between an adjacent two of the shelf sections.

    • There is provided a trunnion for a toroidal continuously variable transmission in which the material is strengthened against the wear and plastic deformation of a trunnion. The trunnion includes a base portion having a body portion, which connects and supports a base end portion of a displacement shaft at a surface intermediate portion, and a pair of plate portions, in which an edge apart from the body portion is a tip end edge, and a pair of axis (shaft) portions protruding from the outside surfaces of the plate portions in opposite directions to each other. The toroidal continuously variable transmission is characterized in that at least the rolling surface of a radial needle bearing for supporting the tilted rotation of the trunnion has a hardness not lower than HRC55, and a core portion has a hardness not lower than HRC20 and not higher than HRC45.

    • A polishing slurry is formed of a silica-dispersed solution obtained by dispersing, in an aqueous solvent, a fumed silica having an average primary particle size of from 5 to 30 nm, the silica-dispersed solution exhibiting a light scattering index (n) of from 3 to 6 at a silica concentration of 1.5% by weight, and the fumed silica dispersed therein having an average secondary particle size of from 30 to 100 nm on the weight basis. The polishing slurry is produced by pulverizing, using a high-pressure homogenizer, a silica-dispersed solution obtained by dispersing a fumed silica in an aqueous solvent, so that the fumed silica possesses an average secondary particle size of from 30 to 100 nm on the weight basis. The polishing slurry is used for polishing semiconductor wafers and inter-layer dielectric in an IC process.

    • Proposed is a novel electroconductive composite plastic resin sheet consisting of an insulating base sheet of a plastic resin and an electroconductive coating layer formed on at least one of the surfaces of the base sheet, which is suitable as a material of a carrier tape used in transportation, storage and mounting works of chip-formed electronic devices such as ICs. The electroconductive composite plastic resin sheet of the invention characteristically consists of: (A) a base sheet having a thickness in the range from 100 to 1000 .mu.m formed from an electrically insulating polystyrene-based plastic resin; and (B) a coating layer having a thickness in the range from 0.1 to 30 .mu.m formed on at least one surface of the base sheet from an electroconductive coating composition comprising: (a) 100 parts by weight of an acrylic urethane-based resin as the vehicle of the coating composition to form the matrix phase of the coating layer; and (b) from 15 to 35 parts by weight of electroconductive particles having an average particle diameter in the range from 0.05 to 1.0 .mu.m uniformly dispersed in the vehicle resin, the surface of the coating layer having a surface resistivity in the range from 10.sup.4 to 10.sup.8 ohm at 23.degree. C.
